Man I love it when LEO's retire and sell off their hardly used guns on the cheap. I shot 50 rounds of Speer 135gr +P GDHP through it and was mildly impressed with the way the all steel K frame soaked up recoil(compared to a friends Airlite J- Frame) and how accurate it was with the ammo at a close combat distance of 7 yards. It also came in with a well broken in IWB holser, 18 years old, that fits like a glove. I noticed it's also stamped "NY-1" on the frame underneath the cylinder yoke, most likely to identify it as an NYPD firearm? 38 special ammo only, no 357 for this one. Purchase price?
$45.00!     I'm thinking about CTC lasergrips for shits-n-giggles. We'll see, those ugly looking Pachmyers actually feel good!

 . California Department of Corrections trade ins are running $300 in these parts. And probably not as nice. I've started accumulating Model 10's of late. Have four inch heavy barrel, a five inch nickel (via Detroit PD) and just acquired a nice two inch blued. I thought $250 was a good price for it. I may have to rethink my buying strategy........  If memory serves NY-1 was double action only with a special matte finish. Not sure if it was exclusive to NYPD or not. Came it two, three, and four inch. Well done. Extremely well done. |

I just put some Hogue rubber grips on....much better. Pics will be up as soon as the batteries charge for my camera.

Very strange that an LEO would get rid of his/her carry peice upon retirement. I'm sure NY cops don't make alot of friends on the street. If I dealt with asshats all days for 20 years, I'd damn sure be armed after I gave the badge back.

It could fire single action but I would have to change out the hammer. Here's the pics with the new Hogue grips...haven't cleaned it yet though. Shot it at 15 yards and was very impressed, sweet accuracy for a 2" barrel and short sight radius.

A cop who let you STEAL from him....................hmmmm. Very strange that he'd let a sweet little thing like that get away so cheap. How long did it take you to hypnotize him?
 Ya gotta love those old K-frames. That one looks like it was carried so often, it probably has its own flavor of BO. And that gun with the Speer 135 GD is a great combo. You might even need it when that cop wakes up and realizes how you stole that gun from him!  Papajohn |

I hate you, I hate you, I hate you, I hate you. Seriously, hell of a deal. If I ran across an ex cop selling a S&W revolver for $45, I'd jump on that in a heartbeat. You can't sneeze at one without spending that much.

NY-1's were, in fact, NYPD issue, and yes, came in 2" (for backup), VERY FEW in 3" (detectives), and 4" as the standard for uniform carry. [Digs for past issue of Combat Handguns] Hmm... [/Digs for past issue of Combat Handguns] Or was it Guns n Weapons for Law Enforcement? Someone just did a 4-5 page article on these...

Used to own a 3" M64 NY-1. It was DAO and had compact Pacs on it also. Very sweet carrying and shooting iron. Loved the matte finish on that revolver.
