Is the 50th anniversary Ruger Blackhawk's frame the old or new frame size? My local dealer has one in .357 and I like it but I want to know if it is the old strong frame or lighter new frame?

Anyone?

Smaller frame size I believe.  I don't believe the new frame is significantly weaker.  I don't think there is anything a sane person shouldn't do to the new frame that he could do with the old frame.

Mid-size Flat Top and XR-3 grip frame


"Like the 1955 Ruger Blackhawk, the 50th Anniversary New Model Blackhawk is chambered in .357 Magnum with a 4-5/8” barrel. It offers many original features including a blued, mid-size “Flat Top” frame with a micro-adjustable rear sight, and a smaller, pre-1962 “XR-3” grip frame with checkered “hard rubber” grips bearing original-style black Ruger medallions. The distinctive “Flat Top” frame disappeared from the Ruger product line in 1962 with the introduction of a new design featuring patented integral frame ribs in the area of the rear sight."

Don't worry, it's plenty strong enough for the .357Mag.
