Opinions wanted. Primary use will be for whitetails. Possibly elk if I,m lucky enough to draw a tag. Shots on deer can exceed 200 yds.. My other choice would be a Ruger Bisley in .45 Colt.
Thanks in advance.

Have mine about 6 weeks now. First shot right out of the box, offhand @ 25 yards, dead center. Almost packed up for the day right there, figured can't get better than this. Shoots real nice, less kick than the 500. More muzzle rise than the 500 though. Have only shot 460 through it so far, havn't tried the other loads yet. Putting optics on it next week. I would recommend it

The 460 is going to be the better hunting round but you can hunt with the .45 Colt as well and load it up to 44 mag power.

I think these 2 guns are totally different so just buy them both and enjoy!

I have been thinking about this revolver since reading my latest copy of American Rifleman last week.  I got the chanc to play with one at one of the Omaha fun stores.  Nice gun.

I am intrigued by the 460's ability to chamber the "lesser" 454 and 45 LC.  I remember reading some of the articles about reloading to 45 LC to obscene power levels and feel that this platfrom would give me more than enough confidence to experiment with that cartridge.

I also like the idea of having a handgun with a legitimate 200+ yard effective range on a deer.  I just wonder what it would do to a prarie poodle?

I shot mine two weeks ago on metal silouettes at 50m,100m,150m, and a whopping 200meters standing.  WOW! what a rush and I shot all three ammos and it performed really well.

Highly recommend it.

I am going to be picking up one of these tommorrow, cant wait to try it out (helps to have about 500 rounds of 454 lying around, not to mention the 460 ammo I will be buying with it).

Thanks for all the fine reports. I'm gonna get a 460 as soon as the fund's are availiable.  I couldn't pass up the SS Ruger Blackhawk w/sguare back trigger guard in 45 lc & the Bianci belt and holster last weekend for $375.00 like new.

I took it shooting yesterday, after I got off work.

Recoil is very manageable.  My Taurus 454 has more felt recoil than this does, shooting hornady 460 ammo. Shooting 454 ammo through this is nothing, seems like a 38 special in a 357 revolver

Accuracy is superb, from what I could tell (wasnt really at a range, kind of like a shooting pit up by the city dump).  I hit a 12oz mt dew can at 50 yards with my first try.  I was impressed just with that.

I let a friend shoot it a bit too, and though I didnt notice it much when I was shooting it, the fireball that this thing produces is crazy.  You would think you had a howitzer in your hand.

I am planning on taking it out this weekend to a better place, and shoot it a little more.  I wont be shooting it a lot until I get the reloading dies though, kind of expensive to shoot the 460 ammo through it.

somebody had to make it(500 x frame) i dont fault smith and wesson for laying claim to worlds biggest DA revolver.its just too much imo.the 460 is even more rediculous.
