I want to put a different front sight on my Vaquero. Is there enough "meat" on the end of the barrel to have a gunsmith cut a dovetail in?

Yes.  Bowen and Reeder custom guns both do it.  There was also a gentlemen over at Leverguns.com that did it.

Great, thanks! I know it isn't very "traditional" looking, but I'm going to try one of the light gathering fiber optic sights to help me see it a little easier. Nice thing about a dovetail - if you don't like the sight it's easy to change.
