I looked on the Kimber website and the description is the exact same.  Is there any difference in these two models except for the finish?  As my last question if you had to buy one today which one would it be?

I believe they are almost the same except that the desert warrior has the tan finish which I think is suppose to be more durable, other than that the desert warrior I think has more internal improvements to help it function better in the sandbox. Hence the name.

The only difference is the color. I have a warrior and one of my friends have the DW. Both guns are mechanically the same. Kimber puts color in the K coat for the DW and black in the warrior.

The Desert Warrior has a slight meltdown on the slide as well.

Also has the solid, black trigger.  No internal differences to make it function better in the desert

I love the look and feel of the desert warrior, I'm just not in love with the price yet...

I have the Warrior, almost got the Desert Warrior but like the black finish better.  The Desert Warrior finish didn't look as smooth to me.  If my finish starts to look bad I think I will parkerize it.  By the way it shoots great!!

Didn't the Desert model also include what was called "slight melting". Some found it difficult to spot. Kinda like trying to find the pork in the beans. Just wondering..??

DW and all I would change is the grips.

I just purchased a Desert Warrior also, good gun and one heck of a deal! $1007 plus shipping, if anyone else is interested they have alot of Desert warriors left at almost cost! Desert Warrior $1007!

I was also thinking about changing the grips to the Kimber Covert/laser grips, think it would look sick with the DW color, would this work, anyone have pictures of this done??

Desert Warrior for me. I believe either choice would be a good one.

It'll work and looks good.  However, you'll have to either order a shorter right side of the ambi safety from Kimber or bob it yourself to clear the laser on the right side.

I ended up with a DW, but only because thats what was on the shelf. i would have taken either one.

Supposedly, the DW has a slight "melt" job, but I wouldnt pick it over a standard Warrior just for that.

When it comes down to it, basically the only difference is the color. Both of them are VERY accurate 1911s, and IMO, the best, and most pure 1911 that Kimber produces.

One thing I can always count on with my DW, if I miss, I KNOW its me, and not the gun. I never have to wonder.

My Warrior has been quite reliable and super accurate.  I won't be trading or selling it.

Yeah, either one is a winner. I got the black one cause I like black, but my dad got the DW and I think they both shoot exactly the same. The grips suck on both, you'll want to pull the file out before you shoot it. And when you do fire it, if you miss, it's you.
