I know with XD's, one can use the .40 mags with 9mm to increase capacity. all external dimensions are the same.
can one do similar with the USP line of pistols? i have a 9mm compact coming in end of this month and just thought i'd see if it were possible.

nobody knows if you can reliably use .40 mags for a higher capacity in 9mm guns?

During the ban, people were doing it with the Compacts. A 10 round .40 mag held a few more 9mm's.

i used the search function, and searched for "magazines". that thread did not come up.
nor was it visible when i went through all 5 pages of threads in this area. thank you for the link just the same. next question: how many 9mm can fit in the 10-round .40 mags? 12/13? obviously the 12-round .40's will take 15, so am i close on the 10's? given how cheap the 10-round .40 mags are and all.

Normally this is what you will get. YMMV
In USPC .40 cal 10 round mags you can put in 12 9mm, in the .40 12 round Compact mag you can put 15 9mm. In the USP .40 cal. 13 round mag you can put in 16 9mm, and 13 9mm in the 10 round .40 mag. |
