Is the Mk 23 still in service with the military? I know the SEALs were using it for a while but I don't think any other branch of service jumped on the bandwagon (Correct me if I'm wrong on that statement).

its hard to find any love for the Mk 23 dive weight among those who have schleped it around on their leg. i like it as a curiosity but i find it as practical and useful as a desert eagle.

It was never designed to be a standard issue firearm in the first place.

We still have a few at my command, but they are soon due to be turned back in to crane.  Just wished they would have waited on the contract and gotten the USP Tactical which had all the changes that were reccommeded.

While in Iraq (returned last mnoth) saw a few troops toting mk23's. oddly enough they were not special ops people- my guess is the spec ops crowd has decided to not  carry them, so some have slipped into the regular troops pipeline- where they are considered a "cool" thing to carry.

Or maybe they wanted something in .45ACP instead of the 9mm Beretta?

Or maybe someone finally grew some balls and realized its not that much heavier and the size difference is negligable when its in a thigh holster...
