I'm considering adding another HK to my "collection" of 9mm pistols. I already have a P7 and a P7M8. Love them both and am keeping them both.

What model HK would you recommend (and why?) to someone who requires a:

- 9mm Luger chambering
- left-hand friendly
- SA/DA
- medium-sized firearm (think Glock 19 or SIG P228 sized guns)

Get a P9S.

The barrel is easier to thread than the P7 series, and it doesn't care how heavy your suppressor is.

Good questions. Type of safety not an issue. Would be used for range and field, would not be used for concealed carry. Ammo capacity not an issue. Not allowed suppressors in Minnesota.

The Hk P30 is a very reliable and accurate pistol. I don't care for the controls or the trigger but it is an excellent pistol.

Get a USP...it is an amazing platform. The P30 is a great weapon system, but it is not a USP.

I can only recommend a USP .40 because its the only one I have. I did shoot a buddys P2000SK .40 LEM and it was sexy to say the least.

I fondled a P30 and it fits your hand like a glove. One of, if not the most comfortable pistols I have held.

with that said, I have always had a hardon for a USPC 9mm.

I have the USP .45 full size its a beast and would highly recommend it. I have my eye on the P30 feels so sweet in my mitts! It will be my next pistol.

Based on a preponderance of the evidence it looks like I need to investigate the P30 and the USPc.

I'll start tracking down examples in the local fun shops.

Why would you go with the USPc over the P2000 as a lefty? The P2000 is fully ambi where the USPc is not (no right side slide stop).

Although I've never shot one I would have to say a P30. That thing just fit my hand like it was made for me. I like the USP too, but it's a big-ass gun. I looked at a USPc in .45 that I really took a liking to, but I wish it held more than eight rounds.

Why would you go with the USPc over the P2000 as a lefty? The P2000 is fully ambi where the USPc is not (no right side slide stop).

Don't need it as it's much faster, and better, to release the slide with trigger finger on the USP/USPC with your left hand.

The used USP market has some pretty good deals going. The mag release on either USP or P30 is good for a lefty. I would go full full size, the compact is pretty thick compared to a P7. The difference between a USP and USPc I find neither to be as concealable as the P7.

I have a USP 45, and a P2000. Both are great. I have been carying the P2000 daily for 5 years. Shoots great, and is ultra reliable. Not to easy to conseal. I am looking at the P30 now. I have big hands, and the P30 feels like it was made for me.

"IMO" there's no real valid reason to get a P30 when the P30L is available. The P30 is length smaller than many of the other full size pistols on the market. The extra $100 for the L could play a roll I imagine but I don't see any other valid reasons. The L (subjectively) shoots smoother than the standard but you also have the slightly longer sight radius with the same grip.

If you have a good holster the length doesn't affect carry. ..that's all in the grip.

Honestly I do prefer Long slide pistols more than shorter ones for just about all the usual suspects. M&P9L, G34, USP Elite etc.

If I absolutely can't carry a P30L, I carry the P2000SK.

Good luck picking what you want.

Amen. i love my V1 P30.....but here in FL i carry my P200sk 10/10.

While in GA its P30 and open carry

(Both in 9mm)

The P30 meets all these requirements too. P30 is about the same size as a G19. You can also get the P30S with an ambi safety, and all P30s come with an ambi slide release. My P30S in 9mm is my carry gun until I get my HK45C.

not to high-jack a thread since I too looking for another HK 9mm.... but whats a good (small) ccw size hk? i have a usp compact now and that might as well be a brick with a trigger. a friend has a XDs and another has a shield. any of the p2k's that size?

P2000SK is H&K's subcompact in the P series. I have one just arrived today at my FFL. I hope to be able to pick it up tomorrow, Thursday at the latest. It's slightly larger than a Glock sub-compact. It's probably closer to a Sig P239 except with the capacity the P239 should have.

Yep, I love mine. Lefty friendly because there is no safety, decocker on back of slide, ambi slide release and ambi mag release, big enough that it fits comfortably in my hand and shoots accurately yet small enough to CC. I love mine!

P2000 with light LEM. I've carried mine for 4 years and gone to numerous training schools with it. This is a warriors tool.

Shooting a P30 myself. Left handed. Had to change my grip up a bit as my thumbs forward would trigger the big slide release.. came from shooting a glock. Other than that, the thing is a total champ, LEM version.

I do the same thing with the P30 which is why I prefer the P2000. That said I sometimes forget the P30 is an excellent choice for many people.
