I would love to own a MP5 but don't feel like paying $2000.00 for one built before the '89 ban.

As I understand it the 1989 ban covers only firearms imported from another country.

What would keep HK from building them here after the sunset?

HK USA are a bunch of pussies who will never build anything WE want cuase they think it'll affect their military contracts with OUR government.  go Figure.  I expect ZERO from them.  (but I'm like third in line for a piston HKM4 upper if they ever do...)

I have it on fairly good authority that the HKm416 uppers will be made available. Whether they will sell complete KHM416's is undecided. As far as MP5's, HK appears to be transitioning away from them, as they are expensive to produce compared to their newer products, though they'll probably retain a support system for them, since there are many still in use.

If you find an MP5 for $2K in good condition, grab it! Back when I had $$$ to burn, I bought my HK94 for $4k! Mainly because they just don't make them anymore, & they're extremely difficult to come by. If I ever move to a C3 state, I'll be able to SBR it. Best of all the 9mm subguns I've ever tried, bar none!

Seems like HK don't like anything that doesn't wear a badge or stripes.

H&K will keep themselves from doing it

They have made it very clear that they will not be producing guns for civvie sales here.
