One of the thing I want to change on that gun are the grips. So, I'll make my own out of Jabota and Lacewood. Here is a picture of the first step of my "grip making experience"... Drawing the contour of the grip on a piece of wood.

Then, cut the contour on a band saw and sand the rest on a belt sander...Then, you are ready to drill the holes...

To have an almost perfect hole location, I taped the original grip on the wood piece.

Then place the piece of wood under the bit. Turn the bit, by hand, counter clockwise, to match the location of the hole. Hold the wood in place, and drill....

When all the holes are drilled, you have to countersink on the back of the grip just enough to be able to clear the grip screw bushing. To do so properly, hold the wood securely, and put the drill bit backwards. Locate the hole by adjusting the table of the drill. The drill bit should be able to slide in the hole without touching the sides of the original hole. Then, countersink.

After that, you can cut the slot for the plunger tube with a band saw (be very carefull). Then, use a file to finish the work. Now you can see if the left grip fits.

Then, you have to countersink the holes on the front side of the grips using the same method as for the back side. Countersink just enough to clear the head of the screws. If you countersink too far, the grip will be loose on the gun... After that, sand the round shape on a belt sander, and finish with linseed oil.
Those steps are yet to be done on my grips.....Maybe I'll do that tonight... Untill then.... hanks Kid223 ( Simonyzer ) |

Truly a labor of love. (Too much spare time at work?) Looks great, kid. Those Norincos shoot good and have seen them used as basis for some serious custom work. How does yours shoot, out of the box? I havent seen any around in a while, probably because they were a bargain. And thanks for the play by play, btw.

I don't know how it shoots yet... I'll try it for the 1st time this weekend ! ! I recieved some custom parts on monday...so I'll work on it pretty soon. I'm also gonna buy a second one of these babies, my distributor has them IN STOCK!

A friend had one years ago, he shot quite well with his and he normally was just an average shot (dont tell him I said that) which made him happy as a clam. I like the warning on the box..."keep out or reach of children"...so much for "show and tell" at school.
 At least its not stamped on the slide. I may go blastin' this weekend too. Got an AK that needs the cosmoline blown out of it. Happy shootin'!
