The Story:

About a year ago I posted a question on this forum as to whether this 1911 was a good value because it had some pitting and was generally in rough shape, but functioned fine.  Just about everyone mentioned 'BUY IT now'.  Well I did.  I then put some rounds through it last fall and early spring.  I then decided to give Bill Adair a shot at refinishing it.  Bringing it back to life!  The first  thing Bill noticed was the 1911 had the wrong blueing on it for a 1935 - he corrected that.  He re did the grips. He polished the pitting down.  I know a few of you will say ' I would never re-do a pistol.  Well, I made a decision to have it re-done.  I wasn't happy with the pitting and as it turns out this pistol was already re-done once before and it was done wrong.  I can't state how thrilled I am with Bills job.  The pictures don't do it justice.  Enjoy!

The before:

Here is the after (My pistol was sent to Bill on 5/7/2005.  I received it back the first week in September)

I almost forgot - I'm in need of a proper two tone mag for this pistol.  If you have one that won't break the bank let me know.

Again, let me know if anyone has one of those two tone mags for this pistol.

Wow.  That is one hell of a nice looking gun.  I love the roll marks of the older guns.

I am envious.

Bah. Looks like shit. To save you from hurt feelings, I'll give ya $100 for it so you can go buy a Glock.

Can you post the last pic again without your name on it?  I want to make that my desktop, it's that nice.

it shoots a little low (probably me) ... otherwise the gun is a dream (I love the .45 cal).  I have several 9mm and I probably prefer this one over the rest

Outstanding, Travis! You have every right to be proud as hell of that beauty.

Damn, I love an old Colt in good shape-- or one which has been well-resurrected!!
