My dad is looking for a Colt Viper(spelling?)
Is there a colt fourm around ?
I found a Viper on Gunbroker I just want to check every where before I jump on one.

Neat gun, to be sure. Maybe talk him into something similar with an adjustable sight, maybe in a magnum. A fixed sight really limits you to certain loads, which you will be trying to find by testing gun out. My lawman shot high left no matter what load, an adjustable sight would have at least let gun be zeroed in.  And a magnum can be used with .38s and seems like it would last longer. Maybe a trooper?

If you've found a Viper, and it's a decent price, you might as well buy it.  They are somewhat scarce and bordering on rare.  They are a VERY nice gun.  I have the exact same gun, only with a steel frame (Police Positive Special of the same era) and I would not hesitate to buy another, or it's alloy framed cousin the Viper.  

It's a nice, light gun.  .38spec isn't all that bad either in a small frame.  The 4" barrel makes it shoot good too.  The Colt "D" frame is slightly larger and stronger than the S&W "J" frame and doesn't wear out as fast as.  They also give you that 6th shot.  

If he wants a Viper, he knows what he wants, because not too many people even remember that gun.  If the price is OK with him, just get it.
