My first 1911 was the PT1911... great gun for an outstanding price. You can customize it all you want and it's still cheaper than some of the basic 1911s from SA or Kimber.

PT1911 is a good starter.
It will let you know if you want a high end 1911 later on. The PT1911 also seems to have good resale value if you decide to sell it to fund a high end. General opinion from guys who own them. You'll be hard pressed to find a better 1911 for even $700-$800 let alone the $500 that the PT1911 can be had for. |

I had a PT1911 and sold it. All the crappy add ons were like putting listick on a pig. I don't have a lot of money and i didn't need a fake 1911. The fit and finish was terrible. You can pick up a SA or older Colt for about the same price. Yes, it works, but if you want a 1911 get a real one. Taurus = chinsy

I could get a PT1911 B, blued PT, for 546 out the door. Is that a good deal or should I keep hunting?

I stumbled across one in a pawn shop and they made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I agree with the fact that this is a lot of gun for the $$$$$
I have looked at Kimbers, Springfields, Para Limiteds, and this gun is as tight and finely finished as many of these and better than some. Get over the name brand game and get what you think is the better fit for your shooting habits and budget!!! |

I would venture to say that about 95% of all PT1911 owners have great things to say about the gun. I trust in that. And since I own one and it has been nothing but great for me, I trust in that, too.

Not a bad gun for the price, I dont know whats the big deal. Yea its a Taurus, but its a cheap good 1911. Yea, if i have $1300 to spend on a handgun I would buy a different one, and then buy a PT1911, but only had money for PT1911. If you can get over the name Taurus, its not a bad gun. Put it this way, its a cheap 1911 that can save your life when the zombies come(j/k). I was kicking my own ass when I bought a Taurus, but totally loved it after shooting the bastard gun. Shoots just as good as my uncles $1300 kimbers and my friends colts, springfields, etc.. Mine just didn't come with a famous reliable brand name.. You only have to face the fact that a company with a crappy reputation is making it. Even thought I own a Taurus, I'm still iffy with their other guns, but i would buy another PT1911.

Yes, its a good 1911 and for the price it really can't be beat, a few people bitch about thier QC but lets not forget about kimber just a few years ago. I've got over 1500 rounds down the tube of my PT1911 and have had NO problems with it.

I've had 4 Kimbers, 2 gave me problems, both of which I fixed relatively easily. One of the problem children is now a carry gun, if that tells you anything. I saw a lot of problem Taurus guns when I worked at an FFL, including brand new PT1911s that had parts (safeties) falling off of them, and dealt with a lot of angry customers that wanted refunds. I've also had bad luck with Taurus products that I owned and decided not to buy any more... |

My 24/7 and 24/7 OSS have both been flawless as well |

Just got mine back from the gunsmith. Trigger and its internals are now all Wilson Combat, as well as the hammer, magazines, and magwell. Added the compensator and grips for a fun look. |

I have one it was my first gun that I ever bought and I love it. It is a cheap reliable entry 1911 and its the gun that has given me the 1911 bug. If its any consolation my dad has a Colt and he likes that Taurus better.

I made my first 1911 a PT1911. Here is what I think. ITS A GREAT
VALUE and I honestly didn't realize it until I compared it to my friends Colt. Side by side I discovered that mine had front serrations and nice wood checkered grips. The trigger is SA and feels great. I especially like the sights on mine two dots military style. I have heard that the PT1911 accepts MIL SPEC PARTS. The Colt does have a very crisp trigger. No front serrations, Ok wood grips, A commander style hammer, Horrible sights (only a front dot and a notch as the rear. Now AMMO is another story, The colt nor the PT1911 would feed JHP... As the PT1911 is starting to loosen up I can put a mag of 7 JHP and it will cycle. I would get the PT1911. The_D

The Taurus PT1911 is a good 1911. Many put it down, because it's a Taurus, call it a "cheap" 1911 and so on. Most of them have never shot one. It is far from a POS gun. I have Kimbers and Springfield 1911's in addition to the Taurus, it compares well. You get a good pistol with some extras for the price of a base model Springfield or similar pistol. I would recommend talikg a good look at it, and buying it without second thoughts. I have blued and a stainless versions, all of which have performed 100% and are quite accurate.

I purchased a PT 917 CS stainless. The only think I disliked was the grips it came with. That was solved today with some new black rubber Hogue grips. Gun shoots great and was well worth the $460 I paid.
 I would also like to pick up a 1911. Still undecided on brand. I'm leaning toward's Kimber.

I have been around 1911s since 1958, have owned a dozer or so different ones from US issue to Gold Cups. Currently have and have had for a few years: Springfield SS Loaded, Colt LW Commander, Taurus 1911 and a RIA receiver with a Ciener Platinum .22 rf conversion. I have no qualms with the Taurus 1911, in fact it is the one that gets shot the most and have not had one problem with it. The finsih is ugly that I'll admitt, only thing I changed is the grips. Then again I've changed the grips on all four. Tjhe LW Commander is at least 30 years old and still going strong.

PT 1911 was my first 1911, and it was a great choice for me. I have since moved on to something a little better fitted and tuned, for more money, but I shot it well for over 2 years. Gave one to my son, and he usually grabs the Taurus over and above another pricier and more highly regarded brand 1911 that he owns (no names>no flames). $546 seems good

i bought the pt1911 yesterday as my first 1911. i only got to put about 50 rounds thru it, but wow....what a pleasure to shoot. easily the most accurate of my semi-auto handguns. i love my pt145 because its easy to carry and fun to shoot, but the 1911 is even better!
only thing so far is that it doesnt seem to want to feed JHPs. perhaps after a few more FMJ rounds, it'll loosen up. |

I just picked one up myself today for $570.00 at a local gun shop....can't complain with that price!!! I used to own one and had to sell it and have been kicking myself ever since. You won't be disappointed at all!
