I have a .38 model 85ch.
Sometimes when I close the cylinder it "sticks", it wont revolve.  I can open the cylinder and close it again, or "wiggle" it and it will "click" in place.

Has anyone had a similar problem?

Kinda hard to diagnose without looking at it...obviously, you cleaned and lubed it? Other than lots of hot loads put through it, warping the frame, hard to say. (I have done it) Study it under a bright light and a magnifier (EMPTY of course) check the cylinder hand, see if you can push the cylinder stop up and down in the frame. If problem persists, sounds like a job for THE gunsmith...under "gunsmithing" section. Bearing in mind he is a busy fella, it may take a day or two. How new is it? Or how many rounds have been fired through it? When firing, its ok? And a gun that don't work, to me, is not a small problem...

I bought it used, and have only put 50 rnds through it. I don't know how old it is, but I can tell you that it doesn't have the "key" safety on it.

As long as I make it "click" it work fine, and is very accurate for a 2in. barrel.

I may have to send it to Taurus and have them take a look.

I will take your advise first though, I will take a look with a magnifier and a light.

Perchance are you indexing the cylinder so the chamber lines up with the barrel when you close the cylinder? Or are you closing the cylinder without lining up the chamber with the barrel? I had a 85CH before I traded it, and I never noticed this problem, but I rotate the cylinder until it clicks into place on all revolvers.

When I first close the cylinder I rotate it into position, but "sometimes" it is so tight that I cant turn it into "position", nor will it move if I try to pull the trigger.

To answer you question a little more, Yes I line up the cylinder and the barrel on all my other revolvers with no problems.

Did you spin the cylinder, opened, looking at the ejector rod for being bent? And check under the ejector star for build up of unburned powder or other things living in there that don't belong...just another thought.
