If you take a standard front sight width and replace it with a more narrow sight and then go more narrow...what would be the result as you go from stock to more narrow?  Is aiming faster or better?  What would be the intended purpose?

Thinner sights=more aiming precision.

Assuming you leave the rear sight the same...set up for the original, wider front blade...you will get less precision and faster sight alignment. If you keep narrowing the rear sight notch as well, you will get a bit more precise sight alignment at the cost of speed.

Many guys prefer a slightly narrower front blade because it allows faster sight "pick up" with very little loss in precision.
