I don't know the answer but that sounds uncomfortable.
I would think that the holster being flat to your body would be better for comfort and retention. |

The imprint of the gun is what gives you retention. Probably a home built holster, nothing that I have ever seen.

There so many people making their own kydex holsters that it's almost impossible to tell from a picture who made what unless it bears the maker's mark, and it's even harder to tell from just a description.
