I carry Buffalo Bore 180 grn loads in my 20. They have a good selection of rounds.  Also have a reputation to be loaded hot. My perfered rounds are loaded to 1350 fps.

Buffalo Bore and Double Tap are my two favs.

I've got 10 boxes of DT ammo in my safe, mostly the 135-grain Noslers (1600 fps).  Seriously hot ammo, a total hoot to shoot, especially in an indoor range (muffs and plugs recommended).  It tends to gather a crowd, too.

The G20 is built like a brick shithouse.  Don't worry about breaking your gun.  I do use an aftermarket 6" barrel, among other reasons, to address the (nonexistent?) issue of case support.

Winchester 175gr Silvertip gets my vote

Roll your own, and Double Tap (Buffalo Bore coming in Second) for Carry.

Edit:  10mm is a very high pressure Auto Pistol Cartridge and, as such, there are no "+P" rounds.....there are only -P rounds,  which includes most of the factory stuff (minus Double Tap and Buffalo Bore).

Winchester Silvertips are okay, but they have had their issues.  I stick with the 180 grain Gold Dots form Double tap for carry, and the 200 gr. Bear Tooths for woods (which would take smallish whitetails.)

One issue I'm aware of w/ the 10mm STHP, at least with the lots I shot in the last few years and the chrono results reported by 10mm users on other boards, is that they're not near the factory claimed velocity of "1290fps."

To my knowledge, only Ron Reed of Reed's Ammo & Research loads the 10mm STHPs to that level  - and he specifies 1300fps (from a 4.6" G20, IIRC).

Winchester uses a factory test tube of 5.5". Some of these posts report a wide disparity in chrono data for the STHP from the user's G20s and 5" 1911s or S&W 1006s: as low as 1150-1180fps, and some a bit hotter, in the 1200-1225fps range.

The reported variation in muzzle velocity aside, a STHP at 1180-1200fps is basically a mid-range load, in the same range as Hornady's 180gn 10mm XTP @ 1180fps  - which is fine if that's all you want. But Win markets the STHP as if it's a high-performance load, as developed in a barrel length no real-world 10mm autos use. Some also question how well a STHP at mid-range velocity will penetrate intermediate barriers, like wood of varying densities, metals used in cars and structures, and auto glass.

On the positive side, I've found the 10mm STHP to be nothing but accurate, and it reportedly expands well in ballistic gel tests. It's also apparently effective on feral dogs (per posts on www.10mmtalk.com ).

Besides the DT and BB ammo, check out the 10mm ammo from CorBon and Georgia Arms. A lot of 10mm users seem to like GA's 155gn Gold Dot (@ 1375fps).

CB's 10mm ammo for self-defense uses 135gn, 150gn and 165gn JHPs (Sierras, I believe). CB also markets two dedicated 10mm "hunting" loads using a 180gn BCSP and a 200gn Penetrator bullet.

I just ordered a couple of boxes of Double Tap 180gr GDHP ammo for my new G29.  I can't wait to shoot some real loads through it!

Use a good medium weight bonded hollow point for self defense, something like the 180 grain GDHP and a heavy solid round for woods carry such as DT's 230 grain Beartooth load.  While I am a fan of the STHP, they're no longer the best choice available.   But if you're looking for them Reeds Ammo has them loaded the way they're supposed to be.  If I had to use one round for both woods and city I'd consider DT's load using the Hornady 200 grain controlled expansion HP.

Corbon DPX or 135gr DT

The DPX maybe, but the DT 135 lacks the penetration to be a reliable stopper of humans, much less anything like a bear or a hog.
