I remember it. The original was made by S&W when they made ammo and was crap. After Federal bought the rights to it, they made some pretty good stuff and I still have some of the .38 standard velocity HP for snub guns someone gave me years back. Today's premium JHP ammo performs at least as well as that Nyclad and in many loads, better.

The NYCLAD bullet was designed for indoor police ranges where long term lead exposure was a problem. The base of the bullet is covered in a nylon material that keeps the lead from becoming airborne. The downside is the hot gas partially melts the nylon and you end up cleaning plastic out of your barrel on a regular basis. NYPD required NYCLAD for a while and it wasn't popular because of the cleaning issues.
