Don't think so. I carry 147gn Golden Sabers. Never heard of them being subsonic with muzzle velocity of > 1000 fps.

I've never seen any 147 gr 9mm form any major manufaturer (Win/Rem/Fed/Speer/Hornady) over 1000f/s, nor have I seen a +P or +P+ loading in 147gr from any of them.
I've checked their civilian and law enforcement lines and all 147gr loadings from those manufacturers are <= 1000 f/s with no +P or +P+ loadings. (Most of them do not make a point of noting that the ammo is subsonic). |

That's what I thought... I thought that all 147gr 9mm ammo was subsonic (regardless of whether packaging says so or not), but wanted to make sure before I bought some that didn't specify that it was subsonic. Here's hoping that my 16:1 Beretta barrel can stabilize it.

The speed of sound is 1080 fps, give or take a little for conditons.
Most 147gr 9mm loads are between 900-980 fps from a handgun. It is possible that you could get a 147gr bullet to go supersonic with more pressure, a longer barrel length, and optimum conditons... but generally the stuff is subsonic. "Subsonic" used to be a buzz word like "Tactical" ... |

It would depend on the temperature and air pressure. Most of it is because it runs around 950FPS but in some longer barrels it could be just over or just under depending on the conditions.
