Ok Im a novice when it comes to the 9mm , longtime .40 and above man , but have recently got a 9 (Caracal) and looking to get a CZ RAMI , what I want to know is what practice rounds do you shoot , wolf, brown bear, tula , winchester , in my 3 .40's I only duty carry gold dot , was thinking with the 9 probably the same , but from long time 9mm shooters what do you say (obviously Im gonna try several brands and see what works best ,but I still value the opinion of the group)!

I shoot the cheapest brass cased I can get.
I avoid the Steel cased in 9mm because the savings is only about $20/k

It has all worked well, Aguila is cheapest right now.

what ever is cheap. I have about 400ish rounds of Aguila in an ammo can but usually for range ammo Walmart Winchester 100 round value packs

Blazer aluminum for practice. The stuff works great and can be found relatively cheap.
For carry - any quality hollow point, +P is better than non +P.

i shoot all of it, anything thats "cheap" from a reputable manf. no surplus, esp from paki or some shit hole like that

Anything that is cheap for practice, hell some of the malfunction prone stuff might even help you become more proficient in clearing drills lol. As for self defense, speer or federal seem to be the industry standards for good reason. If you want some testing info check for tnoutdoors9 on youtube, he does indepth chrono, penetration and expansion testing videos.

Also, as others have said, any cheap brass is good. Ive used blazer, Lawman, WWB value packs, Federal, Remington, ect. For carry I choose either Federal HST or Wionchester RangerT, both is 147g.

I dont care bout the haters I shoot the shit out of Tula Steel Cased and it works beautifully in my Glocks. Carry I have HST, Ranger, Hydra-Shoks and Gold Dots depending on which gun I choose to carry.

well thats kinda what I do GoRebels , , mainly I carry Gold Dots , but I will experiment more in the 9's , yes Tula and the wolves and bears will be getting lots of action , they do in all my other guns so why change in the 9!

I'm gonna go against the grain here.
I like Federal and Speer ammo for practice and carry. I also prefer to use 124 grain loads for practice as that's what I carry.
CCI, while great for my .22's seems under powered and dirty in the centerfire loads I have tried.
Winchester makes some ok loads and I have used their white box stuff for practice with good results.
A friend got a good deal on some Sellier and Bellot. We shot the heck out of that stuff for awhile and it seemed fine.
I do like to use NATO spec 9mm for practice as it mimics the 124gr +p loads that I carry. The down side to that is it is usually a bit pricey.

gotta a chance to fires some fmj shot well , and my gold dot and golden saber , well the gold dot did not fair well , I was really surprised ,i had two fte and 3 ftf , out 50 rounds , I then shot 25 124 grn +p Golden Saber (I really thought this was gonna suck) ,and it shot flawless , I actually enjoyed shooting the GS , I wasnt sure because when I received it , the box was cut and all the bullet slots were busted in the carrier, I though if Remington is this cheap , the rounds cant be any good , Those are duty carry round so far , the rest of ammo test arrives today and I might go fire it as well!

Anything brass cased to practice. Whatever you can find for cheap in bulk from the big premium SD ammo manufactures. Currently I use 124+p gold dots in most of my 9s as I still have a few cases left from when I was buying it for 200-220$/1000. When that runs out I'll figure out what's next.

I have no brand loyalty. HSTs in my 40s and Rangers in 45. Theyre all about the same.

I think the Winchester 100rnd white box is the best bet for practice. It is relatively clean and cheap as hell.

For defense I keep Hornady 149gr HP in my Beretta. Those things will clear a phone book easy.

Just avoid PMC ammo man. It is Korean made crap, it is really cheap but so dirty that it is just not worth it.

You say that Federal is good stuff eh? I'll give it a shot.

I bought 100 rounds of PMC one time and my 92A1 was so dirty afterwards it was ridiculous. Not to mention there were no less than 3 duds in 100 rounds. Maybe I just had a bad batch.

My typical carry load is Win Ranger 147 grn. I am practicing with AE 147 grn FMJ right now. You can get Tula 9mm for 169 per 1k. Its substantially cheaper than brass cases stuff

I shoot whatever's cheap and readily accessible (that includes my own reloads in addition to factory ammo). I carry 147gr. Gold Dots, and would like to work up a practice load that mimics this––maybe a 147 FP-FMJ.

I have chosen well. And can be had for about $26 a box of 50.

I practice with AE red box 147 flat tip. I get this for about $220/ 1000

And its subsonic. excellent when I shoot my friends 226 suppressed.

Yep. The cheaper it is, the more you can shoot. However I only buy brass now. It's not because I'm anti steel/aluminum, but because I reload. I went to a social function over the weekend, and I took the remainder of my steel since I don't care if it gets lost.

For carry I also load my own so I'm not much help there. I really like the performance of Hornady XTPs over a stout charge of Longshot. I'd probably choose Hornady Tap, since that's what I tailored my loads to approximate.

I like the 147g HST too, and the Gold Dot 147 is probably just as good. For practice, just get the cheapest brand name brass case ammo, and sell your brass for cheap on the EE. This way you recoup some of your money, and you help us guys that reload.

I HATE that it's never in stock. That's the cheapest ammo to find/buy that's brass when you aren't buying in bulk and just wanna test out a gun at the range with a quick box.
WWB is on the lower end, it gets pretty dirty up in the slide. Brass and carbon get everywhere. To really get the best bang for your buck, buy bulk. Like everyone's saying, Aguila can be found really cheap, I've seen some for $185/1000.
SGammo.com is a good site.
ammunitiontogo.com is also another good one.

I've been using the 100 Federal value packs from walmart for practice. It's usually in stock at my Walmart. For carry I use 147gr Gold Dots. I actually like the HST round better but I carry Gold Dots in .40 at work and I use this as a BUG so if I ever do use it at work using Gold Dots will certainly be a plus.

Training is with the Federal 9mm 100rd boxes.

I have three CZ's, to include the RAMI. I shoot white box, tula (its fine) and remington for target ammo. My carry is federal JHP hydra shock 135 grain

Sellier & Bellot 115gr FMJ for range less than $12 per 50rnd box shipped. 115gr WWB and Win 100 rnd value packs for about the same cost but not as consistent or clean as the S&B. CTD has S&B for $10.90 a box

Walmart is said to be carrying the Win 9mm NATO 124gr white boxes, I grabbed a couple boxes from my LGS for 12.99 and it shoots great compared to the regular WWB.

I use WWB 115g or Blazer 124g for practice.. I use HST 147g for carry. I just picked up 250 rounds of HST from SGAmmo.com They were 24.95/box plus shipping.. Not to bad of a price for this day in time.
