Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - help with finish!

Hey guys, I built a 1911 from parts recently. My problem is the finish on the Brizilian slide! I tried cold blue at home and it is only slightly better.I would prefer to "finish" it myself.Any suggestions would be helpful(except take to a gunsmith).

Rust blue.  

I've rust blued a couple of Mauser receivers so far, and they look fantastic.  I'd recommend Pilkington Rust Blue (you can get it from Brownells).  Rust bluing is very time consuming, but easy enough to accomplish at home.
