Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Smith and Wesson 1911

Hey ... I just got a recall notice on my Smith 1911. Has anyone got any insight on this recall or on the S&W 1911 over all?  Thus far I have liked the pistol, but the recall makes me question depending on it with my life. I was considering selling/trading it in for a Glock 21.  Suggestions?

Send it back to Smith, get the work done and enjoy it. Or trade it for a GSR.

My SW1911 just became my daily carry gun, replacing a 1911 I had custom built 15 years ago.

The recall is painless; I had them send me a call tag for the gun, shipped it to them on Monday, had it back on Thursday.

If your serial # is over ~ 4XXX, you aren't subject to the recall.
