I'm tossing around the idea of buying a police trade-in 92FS for cheap, and then having at it with Gunkote or Duracoat.  My question is the barrel... if it needs refinishing, can I apply the finish to the barrel on a 92FS, or will it rub off with normal use?  Does anyone here have pics of theirs to share?

IMO, any finish is capable of getting rubbed off where there's metal-to-metal contact.

By no means am I any sort of expert, though.

Talk to Stickman. He can't take pictures worth a damn but he does a pretty good refinishing job.

take a look at a well used 92FS now.  Everything that is silver will be where your new finish wears through, no matter waht color you put on there.  no gun is immune from wear, and that is a good thing!  worn guns mean they have been USED and are not safe queens
