A stock M9 is good for +P ammo right? Isn't military 9mm loaded to Nato specs, and therefore a little hotter than regular 9mm?

Nato ammo is hotter than standard. An M9 should
be fine with +P ammo.

A steady diet of +P ammo would make me want to bump up the recoil spring by 2-3lbs to avoid frame battering, IMO.

I use to run Fed 9BPLE 115+p+ in mine, just like one of the local LE agency did when they were issued 92s.  Now I use GD 124+p.  Still have all my fingers

Sure, they'll eat it up.  The military's round, 124 gr. fmj  Q4318 Winchester  NATO is very close to +P levels.

9mm NATO isn't +P or +P+
it's actually lower velocity than some commercial 9mm standard pressure loads
