Tell me about the 239.

I'm looking for a primary carry piece when I can't or am not comfortable carrying my 686. So I'm thinking of getting a sub-9 and was wondering if you guys had any insight on why the 239 may or may not be better than the higher cap Glock and Springy's. How's the reliability, recoil, and accuracy of them and keep in mind that it will be a primary. Thanks.

I carry mine real often, more for deep carry than my other Sigs, I have no qualms with the P239.

Great shooter carrry mine daily as an off duty gun. Its flat enough to comfortable in an inside the waistband holster.

I have a 239 in .40 and love it. At 30', I can put 15 shots (7+1 in first mag, 7 in the second mag, new mags started in DA mode)in under 2" easily. If I really try, I can group 12 out of 14 in just over an inch, one big hole, with the occasional flyer. The flyers aren't the DA shots, but usually toward the end of the string, and I can call them as flyers. The flyers are only about 1" out of the group, but I still like only 1 nice big hole :) 239 is very comfortable to carry, and the Hogue finger groove grips are awesome as well. I also have a 686+ 4", and can get slightly smaller groups with that at the same distances, and I seem to be more consistent with it with less flyers. Just haven't found a IWB holster I like for it yet. 239 is heavier than the baby glocks IIRC, but it shoots very smoothly and well, the weight is a plus in controlling the hot .40 and making quick follow up shots. I had a glock 23, and the 239 is similiar size, but heavier, and i like it much better.

The added weight of the stainless slide on the 239 helps with the recoil of the 40S&W. The accuracy is at least equal to that of my G23. An excellent carry pistol if you can deal with "only" having 8 shots (in the 40). I just remind myself that it only takes one........

I've got a 239 in 9mm - I really like it but my hand is a bit big for it - I'd never get rid of it for that reason, but FYI for yah if you have a big hand like I do.

I second what Taz575 said - Mine is on the MONEY as well.

MINE IS A 9MM . Perfect carry gun .......... not as blocky as some other makes I have , shoots great ! real satisfied with it !!

Strudle, have you tried the Hogue grips on it? Makes it feel like the size of a glock 23, with a much better grip. It makes the grip a little wider and deeper, and absorbs recoil well, too.

I have a Sig P239 in .40, I love it, I have a Blade-Tech IWB Holster and it is very comfortable. Don’t really notice it there. I've been very impressed with mine.

I have a 239 in .40 cal. Love it. It is great to carry IWB. I forget its there. Gun is accurate and recoil is not a problem.

Recoil's fairly sharp, but very controllable. Reliability is excellent (barring a minor issue when I first purchased it). Field stripping is the best I've seen. Accuracy is excellent - better than my 5" .45, not quite as good as my 5" .357 Mag or the 6" target pistol (generally at 25 yards). Very comfortable in a Milt Sparks VM-2 IWB holster, very flat.

I prefer the Sig decocking lever to the S&W (the Sig doesn't slam the hammer down, but instead lets it down slowly if you let the lever come up slowly), but I prefer a S&W trigger for followup SA shots - the Sig has a fair bit of travel for SA, while an S&W SA is very short, quick.

+1 for the 239 in .40. It is my priamry carry piece, riding in a Kramer IWB holster. Small, light and accurate - what more could you want?

I like it, but my hands are too big for it. I small handed buddy of mine got one, shoots great but my trigger finger brushes the mag release. I like my P228 better

Purchased my 239 from a Sheriff Deputy. The most natural aiming pistol I have ever shot. It is like you dont even have to aim....just point and shoot. The holes just fill up the bullseye ! Mine is in 9mm and I love it =)

I carry one in 9MM near daily in business casual attire. I use a Galco Side Snap Scabbard, so I can take it on and off as needed. I replaced the factory grips with a set of smooth tulipwood Houge's.
I use to carry one of my Kahr K9's, but have fallen back to the SIG cause my thumb just naturally looks for the decocker after years of carrying a P226 and P225.

I've got the 9mm. I bought it for my wife, but I carry it all the time in a Milt Sparks IWB rig. It disappears under a t-shirt. Hogue grips are a nice addition. Excellent shooter.

I've had my 9mm version for a little over 6 months. I naturally compared it to my only other pistol, a Glock 36. I love grip on the Sig, much better than the G36's. I like the consistent trigger pull that Glocks have though, and think that may be the reason why I can still shoot the G36 better than my P239. I need a lot more practice w/ the Sig. he
I like the 8+1 capacity of the 239 in 9mm. I bought 2 10rd mags for the 239 when I ordered it. They're nice for the range, but useless for carrying (it adds about an extra inch).

I have a 239 in 9mm and use it as my off duty carry as it is a single stack (fits more comfortably in an inside the waistband holster. The girlfriend loves it because she has small hands...she wants me to buy her one...

I've got a 239 in 9. Great gun.

I've shot the 239 in 40. Similar recoil to the 229 in 40.

I've tried ALOT of carry guns.

The 239 may be the best carry gun out there.

I have a 229, but some that I know have the 239. They really shoot about the same. I too have really big hands and don't really need the single stack 239. Great shooter though. I would have no problem owning one.
