I just bought a new P226R .22LR pistol for $475.  It came with a "coupon" for a $399.95 "upgrade kit" to either 9mm, 40S&W, or .357SIG (complete slide/barrel assembly and I assume a magazine).  I really like the pistol as a dedicated .22LR, but is $400 a good price on the upgrade kit?

Guess it would just depend on how u feel about paying $875 for what is essentially 2 guns.

Yeah, I was looking at it that way, too.  What does a complete P226 in .40S&W go for?

NEW they are around $800-$850
It is way worth it

So, with my original price of $475 plus the upgrade kit of $400, then my converted P226 .40S&W would only slightly more than a regular P226 .40S&W.  The net result will mean that I would have in effect bought the .22LR upper and magazine for less than $100!

Yep, that sounds like a pretty good deal.  I think I'll go for it.

Good luck getting them from Sig.  I have a 229 .22 and tried to order a 9mm assembly and sig told my dealer it would be June before any of the caliber exchange components would be available.

I'm not very pleased with Sig service.  You try to call their service dept. and get put on hold for upwards of 45 min.  So, your story is not very encouraging for this "upgrade offer."  They get $400 of your money (check or money order)  up front and 6 months later, they might send you the upgrade?

I didn't send them any money.  I just asked my dealer if she could get them and Sig's response was June.

ETA: They're website has been showing out of stock for a few months now.

Okay... I sent off my coupon and check for $399.95 today for a .40S&W upgrade kit.  The coupon said please allow "5 to 6 weeks for deliver" so we'll see.  Maybe the fact that they will have my money, and because it's part of an official Sig Sauer promotional offer MAYBE I'll get my kit before June.  But then again, this is Sig we're talking about and their customer service is less than stellar in my past experience.  My fingers are crossed.

Should just have gotten a 220 in .45. My local Bass Pro has .22lr conversion kits for $350 :p

Ah... but buying a P220 for $800 and then $350 for the .22LR upgrade, I'd have spent $1150 for 1 1/2 guns.  By buying the $475 P226 in .22LR and then buying the .40 upgrade for $400, I'll have 1 1/2 guns for only $875.      But of course I won't have a 220 .45, which I do covet.

And they sold out nearly the same day.  I got the email the kits were in on the 2nd and when I opened the email on the 4th they were already sold out.  Wow.

I wish this was going on when I got mine.  Instead, I bought a Mosquito, and later on bought a P226.

Pricewise, it seems like I would come out ahead if I sold both and got the P226 in .22 and ordered the caliber X-change kit.  Hmmm...
