I am going back and forth between deciding on a 245 or 220 compact and just getting a 9mm SIG to CCW.........would you choose the 239 or the 225? nevermind the price, just thinking about the function and handling of the two

Honestly, I would shoot both of them and go from there. I personally like the 239 a little better since it's overall easier to conceal and accessories are easier to find.

I had the same debate. Both are excellent pistols, similar in weight and size, a difficult decision.

I wound up choosing the 225 because it felt better in my hand. It really is going to come down how they feel to you and how you shoot them.

ETA: I should also probably mention I also have a 220R and my familiarity with that may contribut to my affinity for the 225 over the 239.

The 225 fits my hand much better than the 239. Pick the one that feels right to you.

Try the 239 SAS, I carried the 239 in 9mm for about 10+ years. Switched to the 239SAS last year and love the DAK mod. I just ordered my second one a few days ago, like to have 2 identical CCW's so I have same back up or if I ever need to send on in for service. But since its a Sig that has never happened and I change the back and forth every 1000 rounds to keep wear even

I used to really want a 239 to conceal, however I was highly dissappointed after picking one up. They don't fit well at all in my hands. It just felt awkward for me. If you like the 239, go with that, since you'll have a little more variety when choosing caliber.

What is the relative size and weight difference between the two? How about concealibility of the 225/P6?

I have a 9mm P239 and my buddy has a P225. They are both single stack so the width is the same. The P225 has a slightly longer barrel and grip so some might think it may be harder to conceal if that is an issue.

After shooting both many times it would be hard to choose. I would buy the one I could get the best deal on.

If price were no object, I'd go with the P239 just because holsters and accessories are easier to find. That said, if you pick up a P225 and have night sights put on it, you're still significantly under the price of a new P239.

I have a 225 and a 239 in 357sig. The 239 is smaller than the 225 and slightly slimmer. I can't compare accurately on the shooting of each due to the different chamberings, but the 225 is a better fit in the hand. My 225 is a P6 with basic black sights and it won't feed anything but standard FMJ ammuntion. I've read that this is common so if you wan't to carry defensive ammo, have good sights, cheaper new magazines, and a wide selection of readily available holsters your best bet is the 239. However, if you want a more ergonomic gun and don't mind having some custom work done on it get a 225 and have a new barrel polished and ramped (if nessasary) and get some night sights and maybe a trigger job for what some of the new 239s go for.

Get the 225 any 228 holster will work for it. Both good guns 225 would be my choice though.

Remember that some P6 guns don't reliably feed hollow points as there are old style vs. new style feed ramps. My 239 is extremely reliable and has never failed to feed, stovepipe or have any stoppage whatsoever.

Me either.

It took me a couple times of handling one to figure out what it was. Its that almost dead flat frontstrap on the grip.

The P225 handles fantastic. The grip feels good, like a Browning Hi-Power or a 1911 does.

The 225 fits my hand much better than the 239. The 239 is to thin for my hands. I have to change my grip to reach the mag release and de-cocker.

I CCW a 239 in .357sig it's a great gun. I have never played with the 225 but I would recommend playing with both and see what you think.

buy 2 of the P6/225s and you can have a back up CCW for a little more than the 239

I have a 239 and I don't see what it has over the 225 execept for the round edges, but if you get the P6 and like gunsmithing it is a small initial cost to be able to customize a SIG yourself.

Thanks for the replies...........kinda hard to choose. A local dealer had a 225( not the import P6) and he wanted 549 for it, and it was nearly immaculate, but that seems a little too high........found some good deals on the 239 and Dan's has the 225 for 350, so it's crunch time on deciding
