Okay, I came across a .40 cal Sig P-229 advertised for $650.  I contacted the owner and he stated that the gun has only 50 rounds through and that its been in storage for the last 4 years!  It has the night sights and will come with two 10 round mags.  My question is this:  Is this pistol any different from the current production P-229's?  And, if it's not the Sig Pro it has to be the Sig Compact Classic, right?  I'm gonna ask him that one as soon as I can get a hold of him.  I guess what I'm truly concerned about is if this particular gun may not be as "good" as current P-229's that may have received minor design improvments.

The sigpro is a polymer-framed SIG.  Different than the classic series, in which the P229 is included.

There hasn't been any major modifications in the 229 since it's introduction.  Try to find out what year this pistol is produced.  It may not have the German stampings, so you may need to call SIGARMS.  If the slide is black, ensure that it's Nitron rather than K-kote.  Nitron is a bit more wear resistant.

I think the price is a little on the high side, but prices vary from region to region.

Yeah, I'm gonna ask a lot more questions before I commit buying this particular pistol.

How old is the gun?  How many rounds have u put through it?  Does it have the NITRON finish?  Trijicon night sights?

Gun is about 2-3 years old , may have total of 600-700 rounds thru it , I have a set of express night sites that are new and not installed on gun. not sure if it has nitron finish. thanks , John
