I have a Sig 229 that I bought new last Spring. Since then I've been reading a lot of posts from people who say the 228 is better. I have considered trading it to a 228 before they go out of production. Is the 228 really that much better that I should trade my 229 in? I have heard some say that the 229 has a better DA trigger pull, is this true? Please tell me why I should or should not trade in my 229.

Also will the Milt Sparks VM 2 holster that I have for my 229 fir the 228 if I do decide to trade?

Thanks!

The 228 will save an ounce or two on weight but other than that I can't see any advantage.  Trigger is the same on both guns.  The 228 will fit in the holster but may be a touch loose.  The 229 slide is slightly larger.  228's have been rumored to be discontinued for two or three years now.  Always keep coming back.

I've fired both.  I felt less recoil with the 229.  I own a 229.  I love my 229.  I think you should love your 229 too.

I'm surprised nobody's said the age old ARFCOM adage yet.  "Get both."

If they (228's) aren't discontinued, you'll have both.  If they are, you'll still have both.

I might even heed my own words.

The 229 is the better gun. Reasons stated in your other thread.

I made that trade once, I loved the 228 but ended up purchasing another 229. If I had to do it all over again I would have kept my original 229 and purchased a 228 when I could afford it later on. The 229 is still my all-time favorite Sig after owning several others.

Yeah I'll keep my 229 and if the 228 is not discontinued then I'll eventually buy one of those too. Thanks guys!
