I live in a free state. I just purchased a Sig M18 from my LGS. I asked about the 21-round magazines and the dealer opened the box and looked at the magazines and said, evidently they are now packaging the guns with 3 17 round magazines. I didn't think much of it. I get home and looked further at the gun and it's a California compliant Sig M18 (model 320CA-9-M18-MS-10).  They shop said they can't take the gun back. I am talking to the GM tomorrow. Are there any differences other than magazine capacity in the Sig M18 California compliant variant as compared to the regular variant? (i.e. magazine disconnect, etc.)

Thank you.

Due to the panic,  I had to buy the California model from Sportsman's Warehouse. It comes with three 10 round magazines. I sold them on GunBroker to a guy New York. Other than the magazines, its the exact same pistol.  I really like it.

Must be a NY model, CA does not allow that gun. It’s not on the roster.

This makes sense, because the model number has CA in it but from my research this gun would have to have a magazine disconnect to be CA compliant. However, although I haven't  live fired it, I was fairly certain it didn't have one by dry firing it. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.

Thank you.

"CA" is SIG Sauer speak for "carry" model".

I guess it makes sense to check all your stuff before you leave a store. I've seen P320-M17's and M18's over the last few years with 1, 2 or 3 mags. 1 mag because of the shortage. But SIG has purposefully shipped the P320 M17/M18 with only 2 or 3 mags. Sometimes 3, 17 rounders. Sometimes just 2, 17 rounders. And most of the time with `1, 17 & 2, 21 rounders.

This, “CA” doesn’t mean Commiefornia but rather Carry.

You need to polish up your research skills.

Like others have posted, you have a non-roster firearm, CA doesn’t mean California and 17 round mags are illegal in CA, unless purchased during “Freedom Week”.

Cancel the call to the GM!

My M18 came with two mags, 17 and 21 round. I had a coupon for a free 21 round mag. The 21 was out of stock so I got another 17.
