I'm pretty sure I want to get the p229 but can't decide what caliber to get. When I test fired one at a local range, theirs was in .357 sig. I liked that caliber, it basically felt like a strong 9mm. I also fired a friend's in .40 a while back. It seemed to me that it had a hell of a concussion with every shot. Then of course I could get it in the ubiquitous 9mm.

Right now I think I'm gonna go with the .40, because .357 sig is just too uncommon and 9mm is a little too weak for this size gun. What do you think?

I have 40 and 357 sig barrels for mine. If you have to pick one, get the 357 Sig.

9mm.....just to be different

Actually go with either .357 or .40, and get a spare barrel in the other calibur.

I prefer it in 40.  It's the smoothest shooting 40 I've ever owned.

P229, 9mm my choice. Just get the P229, regardless of caliber you'll be happy.

I went with 9x19mm since I've got the P228 in 9x19mm but that was a decision based on what my personal loadout situation dictates. If the .40S&W or .357 Sig fits your requirements, then go with that.

Regardles of the caliber, it is one fine piece.

Go with whatever caliber you like.  My preference would be .40 in a 229.  That's just because the .357 is more expensive & can be more problematic to find.  If 9mm is your preference, I'd lean towards a 228...
