it would probably be easier to list agencies that do NOT carry Glocks. If they are not the most popular LE carry gun they are close to it.
We carry Glock 23/22's, prior to that it was Glock 19/17's. Federal Hyrda Shocks for ammo. Around were I am at in S/E lower michigan it is either Glocks or Sigs. I know of only a couple of agencies that carry Smith M&P's in our area (which has metro population of probably 3 million or more). J- |

Probably 60-70 % of police agencies, at all levels. Not sure if I've ever seen a comprehensive, all encompassing list, though I've seen lists.................it would be a very long one.

And oddly enough, 65% of those issue the Glock22 or 23. Ammo is going to vary from a LOT of Federal HSTs, to Hydrashoks, to Golden Sabre, to Speer Gold Dot etc. Locally we have every thing from Glock 17s to Glock 21s. |

Every agency in my area(Fulton County SO, Forsyth County SO, Dawson County SO, Lumpkin County SO) carries 22/23s. Georgia State Patrol carries the Glock 37(.45 GAP), they just upgraded to those after years of carrying the 22/23. As for ammo load out, all I know for certain is Fulton county SO issues this generic crap that appears to have been reloaded(bullets are the same, but casings have different stampings, are of different material, such as nickel plated and brass)

Most of South Dakota (with the exception of the highway patrol, last I heard they're still carrying Beretta 96's) use the Glock 22's (Sturgis PD uses the 21).

Philadelphia Police issues Glock 17's w/ nightsights and some really crappy 115 grain ammo
but officers can purchase either the .40 or .45 counterparts - like my g21sf with the city issued 230gr federals |

Southeastern Illinois most local departments issue Glock 22 with various ammo and some Departments let Individual officer carry a different gun if they can qualify with it. A couple of officers carry 1911 and a couple carry S&W semi auto's. Illinois SP carry Glock 22's and 23's and are issued Federal HST 180 grain HP. A lot of officers who carry Glock's on duty also own a Glock 27. In Southwestern Indiana Evansville PD was carrying Glock 21's with a 230 grain HP IIRC. Some of the of Southwest IN local departments are using Sig's if not Glock. Glock seems popular in this area because of easy service (simple reliable design) and available a holsters and other gear.

FBI issues Glock 22's, but allows the other .40s as well (if my understanding is right, I am not a G-Man)
Santa Rosa County in FL also issues G22's, as does the Gainesville PD (who switched from H&K). Morgantown, WV also issues (or did) the G22. |

Large county sheriff's office n/o Detroit. Issue weapon is S&W 4046 (boat anchor) but deputies can buy their own off the list of approved weapons. Vast majority buy the Glock22/23 with a few Sigs and S&W MP40. You always get the odd guy who buy a Walther P99. Just switched to Black Hills 180 Grain .40 S&W ammo from Winchester Ranger 180gr.

Here in KY pretty much every law enforcement agency carries Glocks. Kentucky State Police that I have spoken with all carry Glock 22 most of them with Hydra Shoks. The sherrifs dept that I am with carry Glock 22's and have the option of packing Glock 27 as backup. We really don't have an issue ammo but I usually carry Gold Dots or Rangers. I like the Gold Dots in the 27 but in the 22 I have carried Hydra Shox, Golden Saber, TAP, Powerball,etc. The local city agency here packs 22's for the most part with Golden Sabers but some of the older officers pack the Glock 20. So as you can see for the most part Glocks rule Kentucky

NY National Guard, not sure if they were MP's or not but when I got home last week into JFK, they had Glock's (22 or 17's I think) in drop leg holsters. So the NY Army National Guard on Airport duty. There's one.

My department issues the G22 or G23.....On duty I carry the G22 with Trijicon night sights and Surefire X200 weapons light. Off duty I pack a G23 with Mepro night sights. Department ammo is Winchester 165gr Ranger T and in the G23 it's Federal 165gr HST's.

In numbers, 80% of police in the USA carry Glocks. The other 20% carry something else.
The Glocks are purchased. Glock sells them because people will pay for them. The other guns are virtually given away to build market share. It is done in the form of low intial price, high trade in values for a departments old guns and through long term repair and magazine and training contracts to make up for virtually gifting the other makes of firearms. The effective net prices are kept low because otherwise no one would buy most of the non Glock guns. |

Most of the police here in salt lake carry glocks, once in a while I see an officer with a 1911 though.

My department, 115 sworn, issues 21C or 31C. There are I think a few 32's out there also but on a special need type deal for people that can't shoot one of the above well. Anyone hired before a certain date were grandfathered in and do not have to carry one of the above though. However, I think the entire department switched one way or another to Glock though.

We're running Glock 22, 23C (comp & non)and 27. Speer Gold Dot 180 gr. has been the only issued duty round since the .40 was adopted. This load was picked from ballistics gel testing. We have no plans to move to another load even after recent ATK course where "more modern" loads were tested. In other words, the GD is still good stuff.

Here in Bedford/Roanoke/Lynchburg, Virginia, the Glock 22/23 is duty issue. The 27 is approved for off duty carry. Mostly Golden Sabers from what I've seen.

In my neck of the woods (in southwest georgia) Glock 22's and 23's are a popular choice for many LE agencies here and it's been that way since at least the late 1990's.

Weston Mo. Police Department issues any caliber Glock that the officer chooses. They take the Glock with them. They can carry a non-Glock handgun if it is approved by the chief. I carry a Glock 21.

In my area, Northwest Illinois.....Every department that I can think of that has "full time" 24 hour staff has issued glocks either in the model 21/22/23/17 models.....My department only requires that the officer carry a glock, it could be the model and caliber of your choosing.....

In my county one PD issues Glock 22's and the other issues Sig P226 (40's). WHP issues Glock 22's as well. My agency (SO) allows us to chose pretty much anything within reason. Most everyone has Glock 22's, but there are a few Glock 21's, 23's, a few 1911's, a Sig P229, some XD's, and then my lonely Glock 20.

Maui and Kauai county police issue glock 22s. The rest of the state (Honolulu pd, Hawaii county pd and Hawaii sheriffs use Smith 5906s
