I have a Glock 22 that I am considering selling, but everyone seems to be noting what generation their pistol is, as if it were stamped on the side or somthing.

I am just a casual handgun shooter, but I do like the style of my G22.  It has finger grooves and a lower rail on the front end.  I bought this gun new in 1999 and the SN# is DAV931 IIRC.

What generation Glock is my pistol, and what do the generations mean? (what are the differences)  I want to upgrade to a G20 and unfortunately "GET BOTH" isn't an option.

Thanks!

finger grooves and rail are 3rd gen.
2nd gen no grooves or rail.
1st gen has pebbled grip
