Hey Guys,

I just pulled my G23 out of deep storage after years of a SIG fetish. I'm appreciating the slimmer grip profile of the G23 over my SIG 229 - it just carries better. I want to run 9mm through the '23, so I ordered a factory G19 barrel and magazines - is this all I'm going to need or do I need extractor/ejector/slide? Info differs depending on where you look.

Appreciate the help.

You need a conversion 9mm barrel.  The factory 19 barrel isn't going to work.

I'm just looking for cheap practice/IDPA use for the 9mm, plan on carrying the 40.

Cancelled the barrel order, thanks.

Ummmm

BUY BOTH.......

there, I said it....Get a 19 if that is what you really want to practice with and keep your 23 the way it is.

Just buy a 9mm conversion barrel and some mags and try it out.  The barrels can be had pretty cheap.  If it isn't reliable you may need to change out your ejector and extractor but if it is just for range you should be fine.

Not to be picky, but the spring loaded bearing too.

Thanks for all of the input. I looked at the complete uppers which were going for $360. Went to the local toy store today, for $39 more I got a used 1st Gen G19 for practice. How's that for rationalization? It's only $39, right? Almost got a new one for $449 but I like the old style frame.

Thanks again.

Why would you need to change the spring loaded bearing?  If I am not mistaken, there are only two kinds of spring loaded bearings.  New style and old style, there is no difference between calibers.
