You need a conversion 9mm barrel. The factory 19 barrel isn't going to work.

If you are seriously carrying the G23 for CCW, my advice is to leave it stock. The conversions are fine for range use, but they are not reliable enough for CCW. If you really prefer the 9mm, then trade your G23 on a 19 or even pick up a complete G19 upper from some place like LoneWolf, etc..
The less you mess with what the factory built, the better off you are IMO. |

I'm just looking for cheap practice/IDPA use for the 9mm, plan on carrying the 40.

BUY BOTH....... there, I said it....Get a 19 if that is what you really want to practice with and keep your 23 the way it is.

Just buy a 9mm conversion barrel and some mags and try it out. The barrels can be had pretty cheap. If it isn't reliable you may need to change out your ejector and extractor but if it is just for range you should be fine.

Barrel, mag, extractor, & ejector for 100% preformance. Anything less will most likely cause failures. Anything less than 100% is unacceptable in my book. there are no time outs in gun fights.

Thanks for all of the input. I looked at the complete uppers which were going for $360. Went to the local toy store today, for $39 more I got a used 1st Gen G19 for practice. How's that for rationalization? It's only $39, right? Almost got a new one for $449 but I like the old style frame.

Why would you need to change the spring loaded bearing? If I am not mistaken, there are only two kinds of spring loaded bearings. New style and old style, there is no difference between calibers. |
