1st of the year around tax time when many of us have the cash flow to pick up new toys I'm considering the Glock in 40 cal or 45.
Since I already own 3 45 ACPs and love them too death, 2 RIAs and 1 Bersa ultra compact for concealed carry, I was leaning towards the 40S&W.

#1 I believe the 40 to be at the pinacle of cartridge development already, and I swapped away a perfectly good S&W S40V read (GLOCK CLONE) and I have dies and tons of good brass for that caliber.
#2 I live in S.C. where the 2-3 lb trigger spring would be legal.
#3 Three 45s seem like overkill in a collection.

Give me some suggestions as to model # and mag capacity between the two choices.

The 40 seems like the most used caliber for LEOs these days, my son says stick  to one caliber but I love the performance of high power loads in the 40, last deer season I busted a 120 lb doe in the lungs @35 yds and she fell stone dead on the spot using Speer gold dots.

I have a Model 22 and 27. I use the 22 for IDPA and the 27 for carry. Both are great. I love the 40 S&W round. My father has the model 21 (full size .45 ACP) and the recoil is very simmilar to my model 22. The grip is a little larger and it is a little heavier. The model 23 is also great. It is very close to the 27 in consealability.

I would look into the Model 35. The barrel is a little longer than the Model 22 and it accepts the 15 round magazines.

I'm a .40 guy.  A .40 cal round has a good hard punch AND you can get back on target quicker for follow up shots.  It won't hit as hard as a 45 but you can generally get almost twice as many rounds in a similar sized gun.  I hear all the single stack 1911 guys say "if I can't take care of it in 6 or 7 shots I'm in trouble anyway"  Your right, cause your out of ammo.  I have a SW40VE with a hi cap mag.  So in a 2.25 pound gun I have 16 rounds of .40 cal ranger.  And 2 more 14 round mags on my side.  Compared to 22 for 3 mags of a typical 1911.

But like aim4myhead said, sounds like your mind is already made up. Get what makes you happy.

You can generally pick up a G22 police trade in for $350-375 before tax. Mag holds 15rds or 17rds with the factory +2. The G23 is the perfect size of general range use or CCW. It holds 13rds or 15rds with the factory +2 and you can use the G22 mags in it, they just stick out a little. The G27 a little easier to conceal, holds 9rds or 11rds with the factory +2 and you can use both the G22 & G23 mags in it. Add one extra round to all of the above capacities if you load the weapon and top off the mag. If you can rent them at a local range that would help in your decision.

I like having most of my guns in as few calibers as possible. I bought the 21 in .45 as my first Glock.

If you have your mind set on a .40...get it. Nothing beats cubic inches...the .45 is my choice.

My philosophy (as messed up as it may be) is that it is best to have same caliber ammunition if at all possible.  Since you already have several .45's, I'd stick with that.  Can you really go wrong with .45????
 I currently have a G21, and am looking at a G30 for the reason I have stated above.

another +1 Go for the .45.

I really love my G23 .40 cal.  It's easy to handle and is a great range and carry weapon, but as already stated I also try to stick with the same cal. ammo I already have.
