I bet it's legit. They are probably looking to steal a little thunder from the P365.

So, Glock is starting to make the products people ask for?  Weird.

Well, if the slide is the same as the regular 43, I could see buying this and one of the 80% frames and killing two birds with one stone

I hope this is true. Kahr CW9 and Bersa BP9CC have never been 100 percent for me. A single stack with a grip I can get my pinky on is all I’ve ever wanted. David

Agreed. Lengthen the slide as well, and I'd be all over this. I'm not opposed to it with the shorter barrel, I just don't much see a huge point in the shorter barrel. It's not a USPSA gun where I'm trying to cut tenths off my time from a race-cut holster. A single stack that's in between the G43/G19 or up to the size of a G19 could be really, really attractive for carrying.

So is this the G44 then or is it confirmed it's called the 43X?
Link Posted: 12/20/2018 5:51:46 PM EDT
[#14]
I'd buy that.
Link Posted: 12/20/2018 6:20:53 PM EDT
[#15]
If they switched to metal mags, they could probably shave 2mm off the grip width.
At 4mm wider, the width is closer to a G26/G19 than a G43.
I'll probably still end up buying one though... unless S&W announces something similar.

Why the hell would they make it thicker? That defeats the whole purpose of a single stack

Because they're too stubborn to deviate from their plastic mag design lol

I’m guessing.... but is Glock betting on a future standard capacity magazine ban and is therefore releasing products in advance?

Otherwise, I am still waiting on a long slide G19!

Hoping this is a “single stack” Glock 19 at 10+1

That’d be a great off duty gun with a spare mag.

Based on the the dimensions of the grip, it's going to be wider than a 43 but not quite as white as a 19. The grip will also be shorter than the 19, which is ideal.

If they make extended 15 round mags for this, I'm selling my G19s. No need for them.

I was working at a range and a lot of women prefered the slim G43 grip over the G19.  I always felt there was a market for a G19 size single stack pistol, especially since I live in a state with a 10 round mag limit.

Would this even be considered a single stack, though? It seems like guns like this and the p365 or between a single stack and a double stack.

The real appeal of the design is that they can make it about the same height as the 19 but with a thinner grip.

I have not seen anything that confirms this is a different magazine than a 43. Yes, it says the grip is wider, but nothing that definitively says it’s a whole new mag. I’d be excited if 43X mags work in a 43. If it is a whole new mag that is not compatible with the 43, why not a new model number? This X stuff is not in step.

If the mags work in the current G43 then it'll be the icing on top. Regardless I am in, I would love to have a 10+1 option that is the same size as my 43 I run now with +2 TT extensions and it's still only a 8+1. I was going to send the slides on my 19x and G45 off to be milled for RMR's so that I could run them appendix carry, but I might hold off until SHOT and see what this really ends up being now.

The reason I think it's a different mag design is that it hold 4 additional rounds but is only 1/2 inch longer at the grip. This, coupled with it's wider grip, seems to indicate that the mag has been redesigned. There's no way they could add 4 additional rounds and only extend the grip 1/2 inch.

Ugh, why not just do the single stack 8+1 with a +1 extension option for 9+1.  That way it would work in G43 magwells so you could choose between 6,7,8,9 round mags for the G43 and 8,9 round mags for the G43x/whatever

If it really is 'stack and a half' I see no reason not to just go the extra few mm to get a Glock 26 or 19

and now you'll have 3 types of glock 9mm mag width dimensions.

G43 width of frame = about 25mm (website says 27 but that counts that bulge in the single stacks' frames)
G43x width of frame = 29mm
G26/19 width of frame = 32mm (not counting the flare on the 19)

3mm = 1/8 inch

That grip will be a good 1/2" longer and a few mm wider than a 365 to hold the same number of rounds. Sorry but this gun is not the answer to the 365, or even the Shield for that matter. As long as Glock stays with polymer mags they have no chance of being truly competitive in the sub compact single/staggered stack game.

People will still buy the crap out of it anyway

Glock should quit with the X nonsense and just call it the G44, or G47, or whatever number they have next not already planned for something else.

I will pay full retail for a single-stack G19 the day my dealer accepts orders. If it's a single-and-a-half-stack, forget it.

People will buy this because its a Glock and not think about a few millimeters of difference.  And Glock knows it.  The P365 roll out fiasco is proof of this.
