So I am a lover of all things Glock.  Seeing as how I own 4, the 19's are among my favs of all time.

What's strange for whatever set of reasons, is why the Rangers, SEALs, and now Marsoc, have not only gone to Glocks, but the 19.

When there are bigger more "combat ready" Glocks made, I wonder why the decision?

I haven't but it's just a 17 with a 19 dust cover much in the same way a 34 is to a 17

Yes.

There are a good number of 17 and even 34 Gen 5s with threaded barrels, DPP, Zev triggers, and  zev magwells’s.

2 things.

Seems like most of them have +2 extensions.

Second the set of nods looks interesting.  Looks like the tubes on the end were added on to a pair of binos.

How prevalent are RMR’s or or mrd’s on pistols in the socom community? Has everyone shifted that direction or are there still more guys using iron sights?

I know SF just purchased like 13 thousand RMRs so I’d guess G19MOS guns will have lots of dots soon.

Will some of those go to the new Sigs as well ?  I seem to remember reading awhile back there was something in the contract for the purchase of red dots for some units, assuming Special Forces.

I thought the Sigs were cut for DPPs?

After a qiuick Google search that appears to be correct.  I also found this on Sig's website, "The optic cut on the P320-M17 guns are cut per the MHS contract, thus are not compatible with the ROMEO1 but is compatible with the ROMEO1 PRO. "

The newer "Pro Series" are now cut for the RMR too. Don't know if the M17/M18 will be getting the same treatment.

I considered it before I went ahead and bought a Brownells slide for my gen 3 19. Biggest problem I see is that the rear sight dovetail is in the wrong place. I suppose it could be filled and re-cut, but that seems real iffy.

I'm considering it. I have a complete gen 3 lower I was I was originally considering making into a proper clone correct Roland. Seems like no one ever sells their factory slides though.
I think I may contact ATEi and see if they machine blanks.

Also there's a couple guys running around with Mk27s Mod1s here, will try to take some pics next time we're at the range.

Geissele rails barrel nut screws are at the bottom, not the middle like the Noveske pictured.

Time will tell though the optics cut makes the DHS/CBP 19 an obvious choice over the 19M.

USCG is a hybrid of LE and .MIL and the RDS is making big inroads in federal LE. The US Marshals have been allowing RDS on personally owned Glocks for about 2 years. CBP/USBP and USSS have adopted MOS G19/47 with optics testing in progress. ICE is in the final stages of testing and piloting optics. Initial roll out will be issued P320s for SRT Use, and all LEOs having the option  for certain POW Glocks and SIG 320s with factory optics cuts.  CBP is the largest LE Agency in North America - as such their adoption of Optics cut guns  is a big deal.

I wouldnt hold your breath on CBP actually buying the optics.  They're  too cheap with most of our weapons I can't imagine them buying optics that "aren't needed" for pistols when we need a whole of rifle optics replaced and a whole lot more rifles in general

We get a lot of 19's mostly, some threaded, some cut for RMR. It all depends on who you are with and where you are.

I believe I read that SF went with Glock 19’s to reduce snag and overall size of their secondary which made a lot of sense. I’m curious why wasn’t the G26 chosen? It’s such an amazing pistol and shoots like a full size. Is it used by any SF units? Maybe in an undercover capacity?
