I see these pop up for $350 all the time. I'm planning my next pistol purchase, and have been thinking glock. Any reasons to avoid one? It seems like I can get a new one for about $500 after I pay my dealer his cut.

They're too much fun to shoot!

Seriously I’ve been told that the grip isn’t as good as many shooters would like.  As my first choice of a pistol was a Sig 226 and a Glock 17 second, I can understand that fairly well.

So Glock trimmed the contours of the pistol grip somewhat.  Just exactly what they did you will have to ask somebody else.

As for me, I’m very glad I got a Glock over the Sig. I may get a Sig one of these days, but that’s another subject.

i see no reason to avoid one. I have had one for years. Never have had a problem with it.

While I don't consider the early imports as having problems there are some "quirks" which they are known to have which I and others noted in this thread: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=5&f=13&t=17056

I really like the feel of the 2nd gen glocks.  The contour and grip surface has changed dramatically as each generation has been released.

Mine has been working fine for years.
I prefer the older grip over the new finger grooves.

Awesome... THX guys. I know jack about glocks. I thought all  generations had light rails. while I'm not crazy about the finger grooves, I want the light rail.

It's gonna be a while, before I get one.

ETA: I thought all of them had rails.
Still mulling this one over..... hmmmm Glock? or more AR stuff?

I have two 1st-gen G17s, thousands of rounds through each - no problems, no complaints.

(But mine were both sent back for upgrades/updates several years ago, FWIW.)
