Is possible to put a 5" barrel and slide on the Glock 17 4" frame?

Yes.

You could put an aftermarket slide and barrel or a factory G34 (or 17L) upper.

Would you possibly have a link to a pic of that set up?

Lone Wolf has a few slides and barrels.

There are others, but I've bought from them in the past.

The Glock factory stuff will fit because the 17L and the 34 use the same frame as the 17, it's just a longer upper.

Took a look and I saw that the 17L is 6".

Are there no 5" slide and barrel options for the 17 frame?

The 34 and 17 use the same frame.  Putting a 34 "upper" onto a 17 frame would essentially make it a 34.  The 34 has a 5.3" barrel.

Thanx.  I will be using the Glock 17 with a suppressor and thing that the 34 length of 5" will look better than the 17L long slide suppressed.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this or should I keep the 17 as is with a 4" slide?

I don't understand what you are trying to do.  If you want to suppress a G17, you just need a G17 threaded barrel (which will obviously be longer than the slide).  If you want a suppressed G34, you will need a 34 slide and an even longer threaded barrel.  Personally, I'd rather have a 17 for suppressor use; a suppressor adds a lot of length to the already long 34.  I think a lot of people would even prefer the shorter 19.

I was really trying to ask if a suppressor would function any better on one or the other...that being a 4" vs. a 5" set up.

Like, be quieter? I'm not sure you'll notice much of a difference.

The 17 will handle better than a 34 with a can on it though, because it's shorter.

Thanx gentlemen....I think I will stick with the original 17 4" configuration for now.

I find a can (Ti-Rant) makes a 34 just a wee bit too long and nose heavy.  Perfect (for me) on a G19 though.  Function wise, they both for me have been 100%.

And yes, while it's been said already, a 34 slide and barrel assembly works on a 17 frame and vice-versa.

There are three ways to go about getting a threaded barrel, in order of preference IMO:

1 - buy a glock factory barrel, left hand threads
2 - get a 34 factory barrel threaded down to thread pitch of choice
3 - aftermarket barrels

As someone who has both and has tried both with a suppressor, this is absolute truth. The 34 by itself is one of my favorite Glocks, but you hang a can off it and you might as well get an SBR.

The 17 is actually just a hair under 4.5 inch barrel. The 19 has the four inch ( give or take a few mm's )
