I've gone through several periods of Glock ownership, currently I'm shooting M&P's, but might go back to Glock.

I understand they changed the guide rod on the Gen 4; can anyone give me any insight into why they did this?

I'll be shooting 9mm's BTW

Also, I did a basic search and didn't find any Guide Rod answers

Thank you

They use dual recoil springs on the Gen 4. That was to help tame the recoil of the 40 S&W.
Earlier Gen 4 9mm's had the same dual recoil springs which caused some reliability problems.
That has since been resolved by using lighter dual recoil springs for the 9mm Gen 4 guns.
