I'm looking for a smaller striker fired 45acp.  I just sold a G21 to a member here which I loved, but it was a little too big for my smallish hands.  I have a G19 and a G17 that feel fine and that I shoot well.  I'd considered a G21sf, but I'm not interested in a full sized pistol.  I'm looking for something to potentially carry concealed.  The G30 feels fat to me as well.  I do not mind that the G36 is only 6+1, nor do I mind a little extra recoil.

Is it a good / reliable shooter?

Where is my thinking off?  I welcome your experiences / input.

It is my daily carry gun and has been very reliable.  Even though it is very close to the size of a 19 it seems to carry like a much smaller gun.

Not going to happen.

After getting rid of my G19, my G36 is my next on my "kicking myself" list.  Very easy for me to shoot, carry, and I really liked it.  I will have another at some point.

You may not be interested but have you looked at the Springfield XDS its a micro compact .45 a little smaller and thinner than the 36

I'm sure it's a fine pistol.  Isn't that the one I've seen advertised as "actual size" in the gun rags?  It's pure snobbery alone that prevents me from getting an XD.  It may not be rational, but for this role, I feel that I need a Glock.

How about a 30 sf or gen 4 30.  I've heard they are better for smallish hands.

I like the 36 even though its like the red headed stepchild of Gaston Glock. The 30 is nice, but seems a touch thick for ccw. The 36 kind of disappears in a crossbreed supertuck. I prefer my 19 just to have more rounds, but if I was carrying slime 45 it would be the 36.

I tried a friend's G36 but went with the XDs.

I like the G29 I already have for open and concealed, but for places I want to carry really concealed the XDs vanishes even OWB.

So, 6+1 45 r 15 + 1 9mm for me it is a no brainier.

Had a 36 for a while but the grip didn't quite feel right.  It felt like it stuck out too far just above where the lanyard hole is.  Sold it for a 30sf and have never looked back

I tried one a few years back. I didn't like it. My finger kept getting pinched between the magazine and grip.

imo, what makes the G36 fit the hand is the reprofiled grip front.  overall dimensions are pretty much the same as the G19/23 but its the rounder, less squared off grip that makes all the difference...
