a shop i go to has factory refurbed old model glocks for $419 and nib for $529 or nib with night sights for $589. what should i do?

I'd go new simply because it's a 3rd gen gun. Most of the refurbs I've seen are 2nd gen but I'm sure there will eventually be 3rd gen refurbs.

You can send me an E-mail for a LEO Glock 22 that I am trying to sell for a friend. The gun has around 300 rounds through it, it also has the Trijicon night sights already on it. We are in the Peensylvania area, not sure where you are. The gun is in the factory box with all the original equipment that came with it.

Edit to say that this is a 3rd gen gun. Ready for a flashlight, if you want to go that way.

I wouldnt hesitate to buy a used glock in excellent condition, that bieng said I wouldnt get to excited about a refurbed one for $419. I think I saw topglock had 23's on sale for $449. My local gunshop had them for $480.

Remember if you buy one out of state you also have to pay a little extra for them to ship and insure it. So keep that in mind as well.

If you have the money to spend go new. But, I still would have no problem buying a used 22. My issued 22 is about 8 years old, and has around 10k rounds through it. I think she is just starting to break in. Other than holster wear on the slide, and my old style grip handle, it would be hard to guess the gun has seen much use. Glocks have a long life.

2 weeks ago I bought a used Model 22 for $275. Holster wear but has the Trijicon Night sights. It was a Sheriffs dept trade in. I was looking for a 3rd gen, and this one is 2nd but I couldn't pass it up.

I've bought 3 glocks used and couldn't be happier. I wish Glock would make models with the light rails but without the finger grooves.

Me too. I bought, I think it's a 1 gen Glock 19 for my girlfriend and she did not like it. But I like the grip without the finger grips much better than my later Glock 21, wish it had the light rail though.

Edit er I think it's a Gen 2, not a 1 actually

A used Glock is like a used shovel. New or old, they both still shovel; the old one just has some scratches.

I think it's a 2, it has the "pineapple handgrenade" grips, my buddy has a Glock 17 Gen 1s that he was issued when his dept switched from S&W .357s and it has a smoother grip I think.

how many generations are there? I have some 93-94 era glocks, no mounting rails, and just got the latest kind with finger groves and rail mounts.

I aqlmost never buy anything but used handguns and have never been disappointed- and thats something like 100 handgunsd over the last 20 years. glocks would be great to buy used. after buying, go to the next glock sponsored shoot near you present the gun to the armorer for inspection and they will replace the internals that may have been updated for free on the spot

FWIW ..There seems to be a allot of Glock 22 and Sig 226 , LEO trade in's around .
A shop near me has bunch of both in the $300 range .

Buy used. The trick is to line up as many gun shops as possible like 3.4. or more, and then do a tour through them once a week.
I bought a beautiful used G17 generation #2, with two drop free high cap mags. And I used it to shoot a 148 out of a possible 150 for a state certification course. And I just bought a used(maybe 50-100 rounds shot through it) G20C thats ask price was $595. I picked it up for $525. It has adjustable rear sights 2 10 round mags and not a freaking scratch, ding, or mark on it. It looks BRAND NEW.
