I am looking to buy a glock. I do not know the model . I am looking for a glock in 10mm with night sites. Any help or info on this would be greatly appreciated. I have never shot a 10mm, but have an interest in one, any 10mm owners or people who have shot one? feel free to throw out some input.

Glock G20.. Full size 10mm... they also offer a smaller model called the G29. Depends on what you want to do with the gun. Personally i prefer the G20. The size of the gun reduces the recoil of the 10mm round to such that is actually fun to shoot with a large amount og muzzle rise. IMO 10mm is still to expensive to plink unless you load your own. What i love about a Glock is the wide selection of custom parts that YOU can drop in yourself. The G20 is a rather tame 10mm out of the box but, you could make it even better with a few small parts. If you want a 10mm and you want a Glock. The G20 gets my vote. JMO

The 10mm is truly a man's caliber. I mean a man's man caliber. Most people don't like the recoil but you have to take it in order to give it.
I prefer the .40, ammo is cheaper, performance is good, recoil is easier on the shooter, the grip is smaller (I have small hands). Although the G27(I believe the G27 is the best gun out there) is a great weapon I would steer clear of the G29. Specifically because the shorter barrel makes the 10mm almost more like a .40, the 10mm needs that barrel length to get the bullet up to speed. In other words, if you get a 10mm, get the longer barrel. Good luck. |

I'll call BS on this statement. If you search in the 10 Ring on Glocktalk, you will be able to find data to dispute this. For a woods gun, I think the 29 would be ideal. For CCW/self defense I prefer the 30 in .45acp. Steve |

Nope. I am not knocking the 10mm, or the Glock. BUT this was probably Gaston's most useless creation. Keep in mind, I hold him in the highest regard. I know many who own 10mm's who dislike the G29 for this very reason. If you get a 10mm, you want real power, not just 100fps more than a .40, IMO 100fps more is not worth what you go through to have a 10mm. A G29 wouldn't be much more effective as a woods gun than a G30 or even a G27 for that matter. Anyone who knows anything about 10mm's and Glocks knows that the G29 is not going to do what a standard 10mm will do. If that is the case, what is the point?? |

Mike McNett Doubletap ammo on the velocity differences between a Glock 20 and 29. From a G29: 155GDHP - 1409fps / 684ft/lbs 165GDHP - 1342fps / 658ft/lbs 180GDHP - 1236fps / 614ft/lbs Also, Doubletap data. I like my Glock 30, but the 29 definitely blows away factory 40S&W ammo. Steve |

I have a G20 on layaway... Im so anxious to have it out Im ready to piss myself.
That being said I have never shot a 10mm... plan to shortly.

I am not disputing the effectiveness of the 10mm. My beef is with the G29 and it's shorter barrel. I don't think anyone questions the 10mm's superiority over the .40, and the .45. Also, like I said, the 10mm in a G29 is still more powerful than any .40 loads... But not by a margin great enough to make it worth it to pay for the ammo, deal with a bigger grip (this of course is subjective), deal with the recoil, heavier gun, etc... You can argue all you want about it but it won't change the facts... Even if you believe you have the facts. The 10mm in a G29 is only SLIGHTLY more powerful than a standard .40cal load.

The G20 was one of my first handguns. I loved it, but the cost of 10mm ammo was too much for my then meager salary, so I sold it. Wish I still had it. If you decide to get it, be sure it comes with 2 standard cap mags. It's tough to beat the firepower of 15 rounds of 10mm. Recoil was not bad at all, mainly because of the massive slide. If your attacker is still coming after you after emptying your mag, you could remove the slide and have a pretty effective club.

I think I am going to get the G20. Does anyone know about mags for them, Do they come in only 10rd mags? How many is in a hi cap for the G20? Thanks,

Of course the post ban mags are 10 rounders... but when the ban sunsets you can get 15 rounders for it.

10mm is making a big comeback around here. i think one guy sold a couple of boxes of ammo at the last gun show.

I have a G20 and I actually like it , and that's saying allot if you knew how I felt about Glocks
Sure the ammo is expensive since the .40 stole some of the 10mm thunder , but it can be found reasonably if you buy in bulk . |
