Well finally jumping into it and getting my Concealed Carry. So I am looking over the packet and saw this:

17. Indicate any criminal history information on yourself, including juvenile criminal history data. Include any offenses for which you were arrested, or charged under an information or indictment.(include any certified copies of judgement and sentence from the courts.)


So I have not been a saint in my life. Here's my question. I have been caught driving on a suspended lics. and was put in the penalty box for the weekend. Now this charge was dropped by my lawyer to driving without a valid lics and $75 fine. Also as a juvenille, I was detained for public disturbance(fist fight in the streets). Will these offenses prevent me from getting a CHL?

Neither of those should cause any problems, but them finding out and you not telling could determine the out come differently.

My suggestion, ask both an instuctor of a CHL course AND the local DPS office, they will be more informed than I

I would definitely write it down on paper. I had filled out paperwork before in the mil for sec clearnce and still got it. None of my offenses was ever a felony charge, they were all just a lapse in judgement

When it comes to official stuff I would never think on fudging the paperwork. The only reason I ask is that if these offenses prevented me from my CHL I would not put in the app. The reason being is that in TX, the fee is non refundable. That's $140 down the drain if I get denied.

Lil update:

Took my CHL class Saturday. Man 10 hr of sitting learning about laws is just too much. The class instructor was great in that he kept it fun and entertaining. Passed my hand gun proficiency. I manage to get a near perfect score. They don't put down your score on paper anymore since when you get to court it can be used against you. Such as: "you scored suchs and such on your proficiency. You are obviously a good shot, why could you not have just shot my client in the leg. Why did you have to double tap him in the chest and a rd between the eyes for stealing your car and running over 2 people?"
But in looking at my target, I only had 5 rds outside of the area of 5pts (5pts area is upper chest and head) The 5rds landed in the lower torso area which was 3pts. So out of 50 rds 45 went into 5pts area equaling to 225pts and 5 into the 3pts area totaling 15pts. I only needed 175pts to pass. God!! I'm good.

Now I just need to get finger printed on Mon then send in my package and wait....for 2-3mos.

Unfortunately, I am in Plano. I'll just mail it in and wait like all the rest. After learning about the legal consequences of having a CHL, I'm in no hurry.

90days?!?!?! Payday is next Fri. So I will be getting my M.O. then and mailing it off. Guess I have 3 mos to save up for a KelTecP32. Its gonna be summer by the time I get it and its pretty hard to conceal in 100 degree, 120% humidity weather.

Well hopefully mine will be quick. I have a security clearance in the military and I get an FBI background check everytime I changed jobs due to my NASD licenses. So the FBI has me on top of the file I think. Its just the state thing background that might delay me.
