Which of one (or two ) of these makes the better choice for CCW? Keeping in mind things like ergonomics, capacity, available accessories (holsters), reliability etc.

Springfield XD9SC --I have an XD45; offered a 9mm in this package, I'd snap it up.

Beretta PX4SC, Walther PPS, Taurus PT-111 --No experience.

Kahr P9 -- I've shot the Kahr, and while it is the most concealable of all of these packages, I simply HATE the trigger!

You have to see and handle the PPS to appreciate it.

It makes a G26 feel like the butt end of a 2x4.

Some of us don't like Glops. I know it's blasphemy to dislike perfection? Oh well.

I tried the PPS today at the gunstore. The mag release is a deal breaker.

I have two grown-up XD45's so I'd go with the XDSC since I'm familiar with the platform.

I have a PPS and carry it or a J-Frame daily. It shoots very well and is slim enough to work as a pocket gun.

Kahr P9. I must admit that the Glock has a much better trigger though.

The Kahr has a trigger similar to a J-frame Smith but better sights and reload time.

I voted for the XD9SC, it is my daily carry gun, and I love it. Has the same grip angle as my 1911 and seems to point very naturally for me, at least.

I have a little problem with rust on my slide, but the newer guns don't have the finish problem that mine has.

Off of that list, the P9 but I have no experience with the new Walther, and would personally also choose either the G26 or H&K P2000SK.

With the exception of the Beretta I've either owned the other guns or had a fair amount of trigger time with them. The only one that even got close to making me think it would be as good a carry gun as my Glock 26 was the Sig, and I'm not a fan of DA/SA guns due to the transition between pulls, and I'm not accurate enough with DAO guns to make one my main carry piece. I like the XD's, but IMO they've got negatives that the Glock doesn't have and are lacking positives that the Glock doesn't. The Walther PPS is for me, too new to trust, Taurii break too easily and the Kahr is DAO. G26 FTW.

All the guns listed are sub-compacts, not compacts.

3" barrel (or less) = subcompact
4" barrel = compact
5" barrel = full size

I voted Kahr, but if they made a Compact XD 9 (like the compact .45) I'd probably try it out.

XD's feel nice to the grip (at least IMO), even the .45.

I have a G19, P225, and P9. The P9 is by far the thinnest and easiest to carry. The G19 is my choice if i got into a fight.

I can't imagine carrying anything other than my Kahr at this point. Easy to conceal, ergonomic and I do like the trigger.

Walther PPS.

Slim, compact, and well made with a great finish that will last.

Very ergonomic with a great natural point and the grip isn't so small your hand swollows it. Very nice recoil and the muzzle flip isn't that bad at all for a subcompact. Follow-up shots are very easy to do with the Walther PPS.

For concealed carry I would choose the thinnest of those listed, that would be the Kahr.
The most important thing in a carry gun is that you can carry it comfortably, if not, you wont carry it so it is worthless. Triggers, sights, caliber, capacity, grip, etc. mean nothing if you left the gun at home because it was uncomfortable to carry.

I personally carry a Glock 27, simple and reliable, a bit thick but at 12 o'clock in a CTAC I can carry 12+ hours a day during all activities and all modes of dress without discomfort or concern about printing.

What about the Kel-tec PF9, I know it gets a bunch of internet hearsay crap but I have had excellent experiences with mine and have heard the same from the several people I know who carry one?

Springfield XD9sc - I own one and would recommend it. Very reliable pistol and I found the trigger better on the SC than the full sized XD9 I own. Also, plenty of accessories available. Only downside is Springfield is funny about replacement parts. Their customer service is great though.

Beretta Px4 SC - No personal experience

Walther PPS - No personal experience

Taurus PT 111 - A coworker bought one of these and after shooting it I was less than impressed. Reliability was a big

as we had a variety of malfunctions even after several hundred rounds. Also I did not like the grip or trigger. YMMV

Kahr P9 - I wanted a Kahr for years and ended up buying a Kel-Tec for a pocket gun. Long story short I finally got to shoot a Kahr (believe it was the little PM9) and while they are very easily concealable the trigger was el crappo and it seemed rather snappy for recoil (maybe because it weighs less). I'm sure its a great pistol but its fairly expensive for what you get and low capacity.

Not that I'm a big Glock fan but they also seem to be very popular and reliable. I just hate their grip angle.

No glock 26 option so I choose the XD.

The XD is the only one that can use full size magazines should the need arise and you need/want more firepower for home defense etc.

This is my (almost) daily carry gun. It has the Armalaser unit. Inexpensive, small, lightweight, doesn't print as much as any of the choices listed in the poll. Ideal for CCW in very hot weather. I still like the idea behind the new Springfield EMP, though...

I voted XD9SC because that is what I carry. It has been problem free. I keep a 10 rounder in the pistol with a full size 16 rounder for backup. I use a CTAC and I sometimes forget its there. Its very comfortable.

Note:
The XD(s) have the Melonite finish which is the same as Tenifer (carbonitriding). The older ones had issues with rust.

I chose the XDSC. I have one and a 9mm Tacitcal. Both guns have been 100% reliable with any ammo.

Don't worry about the finish as the finish that had rust problems were the older ones. Any XD you buy now will have the new finish.

I carry an XD40, and while I love it, it is a bit big to conceal against my small body. So I have been thinking about an XDSC for summer with t-shirts, and carrying my full size in the winter.

I'd vote for the PM9 but it's not on the list.

The PM9 has become, by far, my favorite all around handgun. Extremely compact for a 6+1 9mm, accurate, fairly easy to shoot, reliable, and durable so far. It comes with an extra 7 round mag (I bought an extra and carry 6+1 in the gun and two spare 7rnd mags in my pocket). It's fun and cheap to shoot and I've grown to really like the trigger. The trigger reminds me of the Glock trigger, it takes some getting used to at first, but after a while it grows on you.
