Congratulations on your getting your license. I've had mine for 35 years and still get the same feeling you describe in your statement. Situations aren't always as remote as you would like to believe. Many years ago when I was a younger man, I was unarmed and had a disagreement with a couple of guys speeding through an alley where my daughter often played and my mom walked her dog. To make a long story short I chased two of the guys who had gotten out of the car with a piece of pipe when I thought they tossed a couple of firecrackers at me while I was working on my truck. A neighbor who saw what happened came walking up to me afterward with a couple of 25 caliber shell casings he picked up off the ground and said it was a good thing I don't run too fast. You never know!

Congrats on the CHL!

It does feel good, doesn't it?  On the few occasions that I am NOT carrying, I feel naked and vulnerable.

You WILL feel naked when you don't carry.

The few times I don't carry, like when I'm going drinking, I feel a nagging feeling that I've left something important behind -- because I have.

I try not to go to places that don't let you carry. Oregon laws are pretty open, No City halls/police stations and no federal buildings. Congrats!!

Congrats on the permit.
Anyone thinking I'm gonna be a badass when I get my permit had better re-evaluate their thinking.

I finally took my class and sent the application in a couple weeks ago.

I resisted for many years.  I didn't want to admit to big brother that I had any firearms, and I don't like caving in to having to have a license to protect myself and my family, and to exercise my RKBA.
