I think the VZ-58 stock is the best overall fit for the Draco. I am not fond of the muzzle break, a little big for me...

Very Nice!

i forgot to note: in the game, there is not a VZ stock availible so i modified a  H&K stock and built a folding mechanisim. so its not actually a VZ stock, but an accurate representation.

I noticed it was an HK A3 stock, like the one my HK-94 had.  It looks very nice. It's got that "SBR Look" but without actually being NFA. The muzzle device is much better looking than just plain barrel.

OTOH, you've got the limitations of a pistol AK's shorter sight radius, and a 12" barrel and subsequent 200fps, give or take, loss of velocity of 7.62x39.

So cosmetically, it's VERY, VERY, COOL.

Functionally, or in bang-for-buck terms, not so much.

WOW, look at Mr Fancy pants here! Thats some very cool computer work! Looks slick but I to dislike the brake. I change it out for a non-existent brake I made with MS paint.

Much better.

However, I think the OP is looking to avoid the NFA expense/hassle at this point in time. So he's got a 4" brake either high-temp silver soldered or blind pinned welded so it's 16".

Thank you. Im thinking that if you take the O.P.s brake, cut it down to size, and rethread it, it would work, if it had enough meat. Halflife you wouldn't have a 14mmx1 tap and matching drill would you?

Great ideas.  If you are gonna go w/the mile long FH to avoid NFA go high class and get a Surefire muzzle brake for .30 cal.  It is gonna have to be pinned/soldiered/welded anyway.

That brake looks like an ak 74 with a krink stacked on top!

I also called the number on the link you provided & they haven't even setup their voice mail. Maybe they're out of business? I found this other alternative.

The VZ stock is available at czechpoint-usa.com BTW.

Thanks a lot RED-X

Okay to recap cost

Draco                                                             375 out the door
VZ 58 folder and lock nut plus bolt                      65
Brownells moly Spray                                       22
utg FRONT END                                               55
tapco Brake                                                      20
barrel extension                                                12

                                                                       $549.00
Not to bad for a one of a kind folder AK with a Picatinny rail.
Oh and the 7.62x39 is like the 6.8 you get great velocities from 10 inches to 14 inches and really no gain with a 16 incher.

Very nice. What kind of pad are you using on your VZ folder & are you using a 2" barrel extension w/ a 2" brake?

Link Posted: 4/5/2010 10:41:05 AM EDT
[#23]
Pad is from a VLTOR Emod, I bent and epoxied to the stock after removing the glass breaker tip Barrel extension is 2 inches and the brake a little over 2 comes out to just over 16.1 from the breech to out the barrrel.

Thank you. Would an accurate way to measure the overall barrel lenght be by inserting something like a narrow rod down it w/ the bolt in the close position & measure?

Yo dog, I heard you like muzzle brakes so we put a muzzle brake on your muzzle brake so you can brake your muzzle while you brake?

Awesome find in that Pimp My Gun website. Thanks.

Here's one I did for my Draco. I'll eventually SBR it, but for now, I'm trying to decide on furniture color and muzzle attachments.

WOW. those are great! but i cant find what you used in the program like the AMD forend and the super realistic front sight/gas block. which version are you using?

I drew those myself in MS Paint.

If you want the bitmap files for them, email me and I'll send them to you. I'm still looking for a SAW grip somewhere to use, since my Draco has one.

UPDATE:
new parts, i may use a rommy "G" wood VFG, AKA, donkey shlong, ect... and the K-var long krink muzzle device as apposed to the AK-USA, as no contact could be made.
also, i am currently working as a video editor for a christian fitness company, so, as soon as my first project is complete the build will start.
thank you all for the great ideas.

Anyone know if an underfolder is possible with the DRACO trunnion?  This is my concept using pimp's limited library.

if they used an underfolding trunion without drilling the reciver, yes.  just drill the reciver properly and install.

Would the AFG interfer with the underfolder when closed?

Yes, I'm sure it would.  I just included it because pimpmygun doesn't give many other options.  Ideally, the rail would be an Ultimak like Gardner's super cool build.  That would allow some sort of grip pushed way out front.  Maybe a LaRue or KAC handstop rather than a grip.
