i've seen a few hesse builds at a local dealer's place. they really looked well used, despite the so called 're-finish'. the wood was very dinged up and oil soaked. in fact, they looked so woen that i didn't bother inspecting the bore. for $900, i'ld buy something...anything...else.

I think you may have seen some bad ones, Campy. Phil at Brick Armory has a few and even JIMBO55 bought one and said he was pleasantly surprised about how nice they were for being a Hesse. He even posted pics on the AK47.net forums. He gave it such a good review that I have one on the way to me. I don't have a digi camera, but I will let you know my feelings when I recieve it.
