I made a thread about this up in the pistols section but it seems there may be more action down here, really hoping to get this figured out. My PAP M85NP is having random failure to extract issues. It will leave the spent case in the chamber, causing the next live round attempting to feed to stovepipe. The casing is not stuck in the chamber, as once I drop the mag and let the stovepiped round fall free, I can pull the spent casing in the chamber out with my finger nail. There is no rhyme or reason as to when it does this. With the same mag and same ammo, it might run flawlessly for a few mags then randomly get said failure. Ive tried multiple mags and brands of ammo all to yield the same results. The gun now has 880 rounds through it between two range trips so Id say I would be beyond any "break in" stage. Since the first range trip when it had the failures, the gun was fully broken down and cleaned (FCG removed as well), the extractor spring was replaced, bolt was fully broken down and cleaned, chamber was lightly polished, carrier rails / bottom of carrier / bolt lugs lightly polished, +15% extra power recoil spring was put in, boiling water poured into gas block port to make sure it dripped out barrel and port was not obstructed.......gun still had the issue the second the range visit yesterday. It works 75% of the time, any ideas here on what I can do to get it 100%?

Could you post a picture of the extractor?

I got your pm, finally had time to check your thread. Mine does the exact same thing. I think it is a weak extractor spring personally. I compared to my other AKs and they all take significant pressure to push them back and forth. My m85 extractor is very easy to move in contrast. My serial is 3398 on mine is your close to it? Maybe a bad batch of them.

Necro-posting a solution I found for the same issue with my M90NP.

I replaced the extractor spring twice, with the same issue returning after a few hundred rounds fired. I noticed the extractor spring would have a mild kink to it from sitting in the extractor hole in the bolt face.  Looking in the extractor hole the bottom of the hole is not flat, but pointed (factory drilled with a standard pointed drill bit).  What I did was take an AR15 extractor o-ring and drop it in the hole next to the extractor spring when installing the extractor back into the bolt.

This significantly increased the extractor pressure and cured my fail to extract issues ever since then.  Several thousand rounds later the extractor spring has no kink to it and the rifle works with all types of ammo ran through it.
