All questions pertain to my VEPR K 7.62x39 16" barrel
1) Does anyone know what the weight difference is between the Ultimak VEPR tri-rail and the stock synthetic VEPR handguard? I want the rail but I want to make sure that it is at least as light as the stock VEPR handguard which weighs a ton already. I want it mostly for a cooler running VEPR barrel as well as attachment points for accessories.
2) The Robarms flash surpressors, are they the same drill and setscrew method of attachment as the Robarms muzzle brakes or do they actually thread the muzzle?
3) Those that have threaded their VEPR muzzles, can you do them in 14x1mm LH to use common AK muzzle brakes/flash surpressors? Do you have to turn down the end of the barrel to thread it? I have threaded 2 of my Saigas' barrels and had to cut off the muzzle shroud with a dremel, but I'm not sure about the VEPR, very little barrel sticking out to thread.
4) Red Star Arms tactical mag latch, can this be operated easily with 1 finger to release the mag? Or is it not worth installing?
5) Any news on the Robarms folder? Is it available yet? I might just wait for the ACE skeleton stock coming out soon for VEPRs.
Thanks for any help. I've had my VEPR for about a year now and love it. I can ring a 6x8 mini-torso steel target at 200 yards every shot. My VEPR is stock except for a self-skeletonized buttstock, but I plan to start modifying it to suit my needs. Rail will be first. Thanks.
